Rare cars

Those who want to boast an exclusive car, various car manufacturers offer a huge selection of expensive limousines and incredibly fast supercars. However, even the owners of Ferrari, Lamborghini and Bentley may wonder at unusual vehicles and envy their lucky owners. It is not surprising - after all, the rarest cars in the world were produced in single copies or in small series. However, we are not talking about prototypes created by well-known corporations with a worldwide reputation - in the world there are many rare machines that are developed by firms known to only a small number of experts. But now you can find out more about which vehicles are considered the most exclusive - we will try to tell you about the rare cars.

It's no secret that the success of the lunar mission of Apollo inspired many Americans to create masterpieces of art or technology. One of them can be called a space aerokit, released by Ford in a single copy. Even purely outwardly, it is designed to evoke a feeling of nostalgia for the times of active space exploration (thanks to the inscriptions USA and the images of the American flag). In this case, patriotism does not look pretended. Like the entire exterior, stand out hood, splitter, diffuser, spoiler and skillful door sills. The rarest car in the world is equipped with a five-liter V8 engine from the corresponding GT modification, which was boosted almost 1.5 times to 628 horsepower, which required the installation of an additional mechanical supercharger.

Space themes are abundantly presented in the cabin. Suffice it to say that in the back of the car there are logos of all successful manned missions of the mission. The gamma of the car is black and white, but with an abundance of halftones. So that the future owner feels like on the moon. In the summer of 2015, Mustang Apollo was auctioned to coincide with the annual meeting of space and aviation enthusiasts. The only car literally got its owner, who did not regret to part with the amount of about 230 thousand dollars. All auction revenue, with the exception of the commission, was directed to the Young Wings astronaut.

If you look at this car from the front, the name “Panther” can be called justified - you will not find such unusual geometry anywhere else. In profile, the beauty, created in single copies, resembles an expensive silver cigar (or rocket) - not a single extra protrusion, except for the windshield - an almost perfect monocoque, dieting and taking care of his health. The initial concept was simple - to create a car that would not be like the others. About which one could say: this is the future of the automotive industry. Well, with the first part of the task, the designers coped with all 5 points - it turned out to be a truly exclusive car, which in those days (and it was in the 50s) really looked futuristic. But the future turned out to be more pragmatic - in the post-war period, any delights were an excess. So the car remained in a single copy.

The car, named in honor of its creator, Preston Tucker, is a vivid testimony of how, in general, a good idea was hackneyed "in the bud" by competitors. As a result of targeted actions, the “Big Detroit Three” (Chrysler, GM and Ford) had a hand in ensuring that the young company was accused of fraud with shares and went bankrupt (it later turned out that the charges were completely groundless). The index in the name of this huge sedan indicates the year of birth, and the car itself, released in a limited edition (51 copies), has a very interesting design with three headlights, rear air intakes and a massive front body kit.

Technical characteristics corresponded to the appearance - a six-cylinder 9.6-liter engine, hydraulically actuated valves, a 24-volt on-board electrical system, direct gasoline injection, and independent suspension. Even the steering wheel in this monster is located unusually - strictly in the center. Subsequently, Francis Ford Coppola made a film about Tucker, showing one of the copies of the car that was in his "stable". This immediately caused a wave of excitement, which caused a sharp increase in the cost of a rare car. Currently, the cost of the Tucker 48 is about $ 1.2 million, but, unlike many other cars presented in our review, it is still possible to purchase this rarity - it occasionally appears at specialized auctions. In the list of the rarest production cars, the Tucker 48 will for a long time be on the first roles.

If you believe that this car is somewhat reminiscent of a bulldog, then you will be deeply disappointed. Everyone is used to the fact that the most unusual cars are made in Italy, but in this case, engineers from Aston Martin did the impossible: they created a car that would attract the eyes of a crowd of onlookers even today. What does Bulldog look like? The first and very strong association - before you is not a car, but a UFO. However, the unusual look was also supported by the corresponding technical stuff - the hypercars were equipped with a turbocharged 5.3-liter power unit with unprecedented power for the 70s - 700 “horses” - only racing cars were equipped with such engines. However, it was not possible to overcome the 380 km / h bar - during the official tests, the "patty" managed to disperse to only 308 km / h. Among the reasons for the failure, experts say the car is not too aerodynamic, albeit very squat, as well as excessive enthusiasm for equipping a luxurious interior (there was even a TV on which the image from the camera mounted at the rear was transmitted). “Take off” with such a filling, of course, did not work ... And yet the car turned out to be very peculiar. With the initial plans to master a small series of 25 copies, the company managed to build only one, and currently there are many who want to get a hypercar at their disposal for $ 1.3 million.
