A K-9 officer, is a dog that is trained to assist police and other law enforcement officers. Their duties may include searching for drugs and explosives, locating missing people, finding crime scene evidence, protecting officers and other people, and attacking suspects who flee from officers
The Criminal Interdiction Unit (CIU) is an intelligence-based unit that will focus on the prevention, enforcement, and suppression of organized pattern crimes and repeat violent offenders.
The Dive Team handles all underwater investigations for the Sheriff's Office including evidence recovery, body recovery, vehicle recovery and any other duties requiring specialized in-water response.
The Newport County Marine Patrol (NCMP) enforces all state and local laws, assists in all rescue and safety efforts.
The Newport County Sheriff's Office Media Team (NCSO-MT) Runs our department pages, posting news, and event pictures/ videos.
The Newport County Criminal Apprehension Team (NCAT) Unit is utilized for incidents such as hostage situations and negotiations, barricaded suspects, service of high risk warrants, drug raids search warrants, searches for armed subjects, stakeouts and undercover surveillance, civil disorder and other special events.
