School staff today do a lot more than just teach, as many of you are likely very aware. Teachers have an important role in supporting and guiding young people, as well as with things like Safeguarding. This task is all about hearing from current school staff about their roles so you have a good idea of the kinds of things staff in schools do as part of their roles. It potentially also highlights avenues for career progression that might be of interest to you in the future.
The task is to:
Listen to interview with teaching and pastoral staff explaining “What do you do in school?”
Having listened to this, what is your perception of the role of teachers and schools?
Complete this task in any of the following ways, but do not use the method you select for another of the tasks:
Verbal (recorded audio)
Written essay (500 words maximum)
Poster
Powerpoint
Image collage (and rationale- written or audio)
Mind map
Storyboard
As with the other tasks, a guidance video and an exemplar are below to help you complete this task.
This is an exemplar of the reflection that you might complete after listening to the recorded interview.
