The EEF (Education Endowment Foundation) is a charity aiming to address the gap in attainment for disadvantaged pupils.
Where you as a classroom teacher may find real value is in the work they do condensing research into clear and understandable guidance, saving you the time to find and digest masses of educational research. Their teaching and learning toolkit, for example, is a great go-to resource to show you strategies and ideas based on the impact on progress they have been shown to have.
This task is just trying to introduce you to the work of the EEF so you can be aware of it in your future practice. You already looked at some of their recommendations for behaviour as part of the written task for entry onto the course. The specific activity here is to:
Look at the EEF recommendation posters in one area (Literacy, SEND or Behaviour). What are the implications for your subject?
Whatever feedback format is chosen for this activity, please make sure to use an academic reference to refer to the EEF recommendation poster you look at. University referencing guidance and examples are available here on the library website.
Complete this task in any of the following ways, but do not use the method you select for another of the tasks:
Verbal (recorded audio)
Written essay (500 words maximum)
Poster
Powerpoint
Image collage (and rationale- written or audio)
Mind map
Storyboard
Below is a video explaining the task, and an exemplar to help you. Again, remember that there is no 'right' way to complete these tasks; they are designed to get you thinking about different elements and ideas relating to teaching.
This is an exemplar storyboard for this task, showing how a Drama specialist might consider the recommendations from the EEF's SEND poster.
