During the second last weekend of the summer 2018 my wife and I set off on a brewery tour of Central and Eastern Newfoundland. Split Rock Brewing Co. was our second stop along the way (Scuddrunner being the first sort of). This was our first visit to the beautiful town of Twillingate located about an hour from Gander. After settling in our B & B located against the harbour, we headed out to Auk Island Winery for a tasting and then to Split Rock Brewing Co. (Stage Head Pub) where my wife and I tried a flight including: Red Skye (Red Rye), Allie's Big (Brown Ale), Black Island (Stout) and Sour Patch Bys (Sour) of their offerings. We returned later that evening with friends Ed and Janice Simms in tow. As is our habit we picked up a grunter filled with their sour, a pub glass and t-shirts for both of us.

When I got home I decided I wanted to upscale my grunter to a growler. Ed and Janice were still in Twillingate and thankfully they brought one in with them. I finally got a chance to returnthe favor by picking Ed up a growler from Bootleg Brewing Co. during our Sept. visit.
