Pay Scales

The pay that Faculty Moderators earn for their efforts varies widely from school to school. Back in 2014, we solicited some basic information on what Faculty Moderators earn. Though dated, it may provide new faculty moderators with an idea of what they should seek in any negotiations.

There have been a number of developments since 2014 when it comes to pay, and the experience of Sandwich High School is a good example. About five years ago, an effort was made by the School Committee and the Sandwich Teacher Association to create a pay scale for extracurricular that reflected differences in the amount of time different extracurricular advisors had to put in to insure the success of their activities. The pay Sandwich Faculty Moderators earned jumped from $1750 a year to $3800 a year based on the analysis of time on task. Sandwich Faculty moderators are responsible for approximately 30 Monday night debate session and 30 Thursday evening prep sessions per year, along with attendance at at least four Saturday model UN conferences, plus SHSMUN the Saturday after April vacation, and a three day trip to New York City in March. This put the Model UN pay in a class with theater and the yearbook advisor, which are both massive extracurricular jobs (among others).

This approach appears to be gaining some support in other schools. It is strongly recommended. I will solicit info on pay over the course of the year, and any updates on changes are welcome! If any faculty wants there information removed from this file, pleasel et me know and i happy to oblige.
