I was born in Berkshire in the UK. Life was a challenge from the very beginning as I was born with a rare bone disease. I broke many of my bones very easily. My mother was told by Paediatricians that if I survived to my 12 birthday, my life would be extremely limited in what I would achieve. At the age of 4 years old, I was put into foster care. My foster mother was a Christian, so myself and my sister were taken to church and Sunday school every week. My foster mother was advised not to keep me due to the severity of the condition I had, but against the advice, she kept me and bought me up. At the age of 7 years old, I found Jesus as my saviour. Jesus became my very best friend. By the age of 12, my body was suffering badly, my spine had become deformed, I was deaf and I was still breaking many bones. I was unable to physically lay down to sleep, so I would sleep sitting up. One night I cried out to God. He audibly told me He was going to heal me and take me to the nations to share my testimony.
In short, this is what I am now able to do. When I pray for the sick, I know that Jesus can and will heal. There is nothing that Jesus can not do, I believe that with my whole heart.
Although my parents were not churchgoers, they would consider themselves Christian, and so they had no hesitation in allowing me to go to the local Sunday school when Invited by a friend, in the village where we lived.
This became a foundation of Christian principles in my life, and at the age of 15, I was taken along to a Pentecostal Church which was very lively and started to have an impact on my life.
For 6 months I just attended on a Sunday morning, and would then spend the rest of the week doing what most teenagers do - having fun, and not giving any time or consideration to God. Then one Sunday morning, everything changed, when the Pastor asked all those who were going to Heaven to stand and shout amen - I copied everyone else who was standing, but knew for me it was a lie, and that I needed to give my life to Jesus. I went forward, I was prayed for, and from that moment on, I knew my life was going to be different. Jesus had become my friend and saviour.
That was in 1977, and to this day I have not looked back. There have been many ups and downs in life, but my faith has remained strong, and I just want to continue serving Jesus wherever I can.
