There have been Gurmukhi classes going on at the Milford Gurudwara for the past 30 years or so. But The New England Khalsa School as such was structured and began conducting formal subject wise classes more than 23 years ago at the Milford Gurudwara Sahib with just a small group of 6–7 children and a few dedicated parents who wanted to help their kids stay connected to Sikhi. In 2017 we relocated to our current location at Westborough.
Today, by Waheguru’s meher, the school has grown into a thriving community of:
130+ students
47 volunteer teachers
17 Teacher Assistants
Many of our graduates now serve as full teachers—continuing the spirit of seva and leadership.
Khalsa School students play an active role in Gurudwara Sahib life:
Regular participation in Divans through kirtan, paath, and seva
Supporting visits from dignitaries, interfaith groups, and university students
Representing Sikhi and our community during special programs and events
Over the years, our school has offered a variety of parent-led clubs to broaden student learning, including:
Robotics Club
Public Speaking Club
Personal Finance Club
Computer Programming Club
Nishkam TV was also founded as part of the Khalsa School and continues to be run by our students and volunteers.
For the past 6–7 years, our students have proudly participated in the Dignity Project at Hebrew College in Boston—helping foster interfaith understanding and serving as strong ambassadors of Sikhi in Massachusetts.
Each year, we celebrate milestone events that strengthen our students’ connection to Sikhi and to one another:
Charni Lāgan Divan for senior students who are ready
Annual Khalsa School Picnic for families to connect outside the classroom
These traditions help build a warm, supportive sangat for our children and parents.
Everything we do is made possible by:
Our dedicated Volunteer Teachers
Our committed Teacher Assistants
The support and guidance of Gurudwara Sahib Management
Their seva is the foundation of the Khalsa School.
