Course Overview
This self-paced course, along with the Nevada Educator Performance Framework (NEPF) for Teachers rubrics, is designed to help educators understand how leveraging the Nevada Educator Performance Framework (NEPF) Standards leads to increased student academic achievement through the utilization of high-leverage instructional practices as well as increased educator effectiveness by emphasizing the need for continuous professional growth. A focus will be placed on how CTE teachers, in particular, can use the Standards and Indicators to demonstrate educator effectiveness both in and out of the classroom.
The Nevada Educator Performance Framework (NEPF) was created to ensure that educators:
Positively impact the achievement of students in Nevada;
Grow professionally through targeted, sustained professional development and other supports;
Monitor student growth, identify and develop quality instructional practices, and share effective educational methods with colleagues;
Reflect upon practice and take ownership of their professional growth; and
Participate in constructive dialogue and obtain specific, supportive feedback from evaluators.
Teachers and administrators should be familiar with both the teachers and school administrator frameworks. Teachers should not only know what is expected of them in their own positions as educators, but they should also know that administrators are expected to serve as instructional leaders who can provide guidance and support to the educators they supervise. Administrators should use the NEPF evaluation cycle as a tool to improve instruction throughout the year by providing ongoing constructive feedback, guidance, and support to the educators they supervise, rather than as a compliance document utilized at the end of the year.
