English: Welcome to the portal of the NeoCardio Lab. The principal investigator of the NeoCardio Lab is Dr. Gabriel Altit. We are a research laboratory interested in clinical and epidemiological neonatal cardiovascular research. This program is based at the Research Institute - McGill University Health Centre(RI-MUHC) and is part of the Centre for Health Outcomes Research (CORE). Dr Altit is an investigator affiliated with the Child Health and Human Development Program at the MUHC-RI. He is a pediatrician and neonatologist who has specialized in echocardiography. You will find on this website resources regarding targeted neonatal echocardiography and neonatal hemodynamics (TnECHO or TNE), congenital heart defects, fetal echocardiography, point of care ultrasound (POCUS), near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), cardiovascular physiology, research methodology as well as more information on the work done by my research team. Nous sommes un laboratoire intéressé par la recherche clinique et épidémiologique néonatale cardiaque. Ce programme est à l’Institut de recherche du Centre universitaire de santé McGill et fait partie du Centre de recherche évaluative en santé (CRES). Dr Altit est affilié avec le Programme en santé de l'enfant et en développement humain (SEDH) . Vous trouverez sur ce site des ressources concernant l'échocardiographie néonatale ciblée et l'hémodynamie néonatale (TnECHO or TNE), les malformations cardiaques congénitales, l'échocardiographie fœtale, l'échographie/l'ultrason ciblé pour les soins (POCUS), la spectroscopie des tissues par infrarouge (NIRS), la physiologie cardiovasculaire, la méthodologie de recherche ainsi que des informations sur le travail effectué par mon l'équipe de recherche. English: My program of research is centered on gaining a better understanding of neonatal hemodynamics and how cardiac performance impacts outcomes in the immediate post-natal period, as well as during growth. My research involves newborns from the NICU at every stage of their life. I try to better understand if cardiovascular fetal evaluations can predict outcomes in the post-natal life. I am also interested in the immediate post-natal cardiovascular adaptation of newborns with different health conditions. I also have collaborations in the pediatric and adolescent medical world, in order to gain knowledge about cardiovascular outcomes of ex-graduate of the neonatal intensive care unit. On this portal, you will find more information about my research interests, as well as my previous and current projects. Additionally, you will find information about opportunities to train in my laboratory. I am also always interested in collaborations with other investigators locally, nationally or internationally.

Français: Mon programme de recherche a pour but de mieux comprendre l'hémodynamie néonatale ainsi que de comprendre comment la performance cardiaque aura un impact dans les jours suivants la naissance mais aussi durant les différents stades de la vie. Mes projets de recherches et mes collaborations impliquent les nouveau-nés de l'unité des soins intensifs néonatales à tous les stades de leur vie. J'essaie de découvrir si les évaluations cardiaques prénatales peuvent prédire les résultats après la naissance. Je suis aussi intéressé par l'adaptation cardiaque immédiate chez des nouveau-nés prématurés qui ont différents états de santé. Sur ce portail vous trouverez des informations supplémentaires sur mes différents projets, actuels et futurs. De plus, vous trouverez des informations pour des opportunités de formation dans mon laboratoire. Je suis aussi intéressé à collaborer avec d'autres chercheurs, pour des projets locaux, nationaux et internationaux.

I would like to thank Just For Kids Foundation (and all the donors) for their generous contribution. With their generous contribution, we were able to obtain a state-of-the-art echocardiography machine, for the NeoCardio Lab, with full 2D and 3D capacities, as well as, the TomTec Arena software for advanced analysis. With their help, we will be able to better understand how cardiovascular function impacts the health of some of the most fragile newborns.

J'aimerais remercier la fondation "Pour enfant seulement" ( et les donateurs) pour leur généreuse contribution. Celle-ci nous a permis d'obtenir un appareil d'échographie cardiaque à la fine pointe de la technologie permettant d'acquérir de magnifiques images en 2D et 3D. Cette contribution nous a aussi permis d'acquérir TomTec Arena un logiciel avancé d'analyse de données. Avec leur aide, nous serons en mesure de mieux comprendre comment la fonction cardiovasculaire affecte la santé de nos si fragiles nouveau-nés.
