SPCA's Nelson Centre was first established in 1896. We are lucky enough to be situated on 10 acres of land close to Nelson city, and our facilities are testament to the incredible support we receive from our community. We have twelve members of staff here, with various areas of interest and expertise. We also have two warranted Animal Welfare Inspectors who cover a vast area between Marlborough, Golden Bay, Springs Junction and the West Coast.

The Nelson Centre has a large group of dedicated volunteers who do a range of jobs: cleaning (of course!), dog walking and training, cat care, paperwork, gardening, fostering, fund-raising and whatever else we ask of them! We are extremely lucky to have such a great team of volunteers and supporters.

Did you know we care for around 900 animals each year! (mostly cats and kittens). 

We also have a small retail shop at the Centre which sells pet care, training and food products.
