Millie
Millie is settling well into her new home.
This morning was her first venture out into our family room. She’s purring a lot and is gaining confidence. 🤞
Azula
Just wanted to share some pictures of Azula's first day home 🥰
She's doing really well! She was a bit unsure of the kids at first which I expected, but I've introduced them to her slowly doing a couple of 10-minute intervals today and by the second meet up with them she allowed them to get close and give her little pats! I wasn't expecting her to let them pat her on day 1!
We cannot wait to see her personality grow as she settles in.
She has certainly brought a lot of joy to our house after the devastating loss of our boy.
Thank you very much for allowing us to give her a home 🥰 She's a very special girl.
We will send another update once she's settled in a bit more!
Thank you

Ted
Ted from day one fitted in with everyone in the house,he is full of confidence and cheeky now he is helping sooty settle in and showing her the world's not too scary.
She has been great!! Adapted very well to home and her recall is getting really good.
She's only escaped once so far, and that was because stella left :)
Vinnies first day in his new home ❤️
Good morning!
I was advised to send in some photos as I adopted a kitten named Rosita a few weeks ago. She is now named Peach to go with my other ginger boy Mango.
I hope you enjoy these as I so enjoy them being such good friends exploring, playing, and cuddling together. They are inseparable!
Thank you all <3
Hello team!
We just want to pass on a thank you regarding Marigold, the black long haired kitten we adopted from you 2 weeks ago! We’ve re-named her Topo (short for topographical map 😅) and she seems to be okay with that!
She’s a very confident, funny, snuggly kitten!
She has settled in wonderfully to our home, and is the perfect fit for our dog who is coming to terms with no longer being an only-child haha. As of now, they’re both asleep next to me while I work.
We just wanted to share that Romeo (Ernest, one of the 3 brothers) has settled in perfectly in our home. Our dog Charlie and Romeo are getting along well. He hasn’t gone outside yet but that will be in time when he has his last immunisation and we are comfortable with him going out.
Hope you like the update
As promised, an update on Dave & Boo (previously Rock & Roll).
They are settling in nicely. We kept them inside for about 7 weeks then slowly exposed them to our garden.
Dave likes to walk the perimeter of the property everyday. He then enjoys either snoozing under a fern or watching the birds & butterflies from the comfort of his blanket, with the ranchsliders fully open.
Boo remains timid and a bit nervous but happily comes in & out through out the day and at meal times. He seems to enjoy beding down under tha agapanthas or flax & watches life go by. We have cows in the field behind us and he spends a lot of time watching them. He is relaxing slowly!
They both enjoy a good groom and take treats from the hand. Thank you for letting them into our family.
Hi, we adopted coal and amethyst about a month ago now and they have settled into their new home very well.
Hi Team,
Thank you!
We love them and they love each other.
Randy is doing so well, he is the best little guy! He appears to have stopped biting me and my partner now and happily hops over for some attention. Hes pretty well bonded with petal and she loves grooming his forehead.
He hopped up on to the tv cabinet the other day 😆
Thanks again to you and the team for assisting with a long distance adoption, I just love randy to pieces.
Hi guys, 2 week with us Oliver now named raptor is doing great , playing hide and speak, playing fetch with a ball of paper, going for daily wee walk on his leach living the good life , off to get his last immunization on Tues , ☺️ we love him
We wanted to send an update that Peggy & Peter are settling in really well to their new home. They are lovely sweet kitties and were comfortable enough to be coming up to us for pats and snoozing beside us on their first day home, as well as doing high speed laps around the lounge in the evening. They do everything together from eating, playing, sleeping, and even sometimes going to the toilet! We have renamed them Nina & Felix.
Photos of smudge (renamed moose)
We all love her so much and she is fitting in so well. She is very cuddly and loves to play. When she is not playing, she is either sleeping on one of us or under the couch.
She is full of personality always talking or wanting a pat.
Thank you for letting us take her.
Toby settling nicely into his new home.
HI I just wanted to give an update on Mildred she settled in well has taken over the house and she isn't the sad looking dog we met in Nelson. I think she's found the life she previously had
again and loving it.
Shes seeking out rabbits and she's quite a wee digger when she wants to be but thats ok we can fill the holes in again as it makes her happy. Mum is enjoying her company very much she follows her everywhere and such a great watchdog which is what she needs on her Block by herself. They go everywhere togeather and have built such a good bond I see her often and she's excited when I turn up. I did find her old owner and sent her videos she appreciated seeing her again and had nothing but good to say about her she is 9 at present 10 in september. She went to work at the orchard every day and chased rabbits pukekhos and apples so it makes sense that she was perfect for a lifestyle block and seemed excited when we got her to mums sniffing the air like she was home. Perhaps she missed it as she now has a new lease of life and is very playful and energetic with lots to explore. Thankyou again for letting us take her home we truly appreciate what you do every day it must be hard finding the right home for each and everyone of them.
Hello there,
Tama (Sooty) loves fetching paper balls everyday.
She brings it back, drops it next to us , then waits for us to throw it again.
Tama first began fetching tiny paper balls and challenged a bigger one today! Success!
Thank you for your hard work. We love having Tama as a part of our family.
Oliver now named raptor 😁 had a great night, eating playing ,purring follows us around , will send more updates, thank you so much ☺️☺️☺️ kind regards
Thank you all so much for the opportunity to adopt Goose (formerly Bernard).
He is the most friendly, cuddly, playful little guy and we love him!
His big sister (a dog called Fluke) adores him and they are beginning to cuddle and snuggle together.
His big brother (Loki, formerly McLaren from the SPCA too), is not very happy at moment so we are just taking our time scent swapping and will try an introduction over the coming weeks.
Loki is nearly 3, he is an awesome cat! And absolutely stunning!
Anyways, just an update and to say thank you for all you do!!
Morning, Delilah has settled very well, and her and our boy Waffles have been fully bonded and living fully integrated with each other for the past three weeks.
Was pretty much love at first sight.
We wanted to give you a quick update on (Hal) now Rockie.
Rockie has settled amazingly into his new environment with Sir our Schnauzer. They even sleep next to each other which is the best outcome we could have asked for.
Rockie completes our family and he has been an amazing addition to our team.
He’s perfectly natured.
Thank you from all of us :)
Thought you would like to know how well Brandy has settled into her new furever home. We really are an ideal match.
She is a sweetheart, calm, affectionate and also sociable with visitors. I could not have wished for a more gentle and loving feline companion.
Brandy has slept on my bed since the very first night, and knows her way around inside our home now. She has her favourite spots to sleep, often on the back of a sofa where she can also watch the world go by outside the windows. Am so grateful I made the right choice in adopting Brandy.
Taffy is settling in real well ❤️
Ted is turning out to be such a cool kitten. Bert wasn’t too sure at first but they’re inseparable now and he’s teaching Ted all the best spots for sunbathing.
Thanks so much for Ted, he’s definitely at home here.
Hi team, just wanted to give a little update about how Tilly is doing. I adopted her in August this year and she has become the best part of our family! She's the sweetest girl ever and still has lots of energy and play time. Ever so grateful that I was able to adopt her.
Hi again!!
Wanted to give you guys another Molly update!!
Her crazy side has now come out and shes an absolute nutter, her personality is so cool and out there. She is very very vocal and absolutely loves aggressive pats! She now jumps on our bed and has cuddles with us which is so cool!!
The introduction to our old cat has started and she just wants to be his friends but hes not too sure lol.
Gidget better known now as Patches absolutely loves being in the water, and has even taken up skim boarding lol.
Rock( now Dave) & Roll (now Boo) have been with us nearly 3 weeks now.
Settling in really well.
I know their previous owners were keen to hear how they are doing.
See attached pics. Smoochie & loving the sun!
She’s soooo cute! Quinn gets up at 6:30am to hold her by the big window and watch the birds - we do it every day with her and she sticks her little head out and makes all these noises at them. Full on parenting and love it! She is our biggest joy!
Please find attached photos of Trina.
She is settling in well. She is very friendly and cuddly. Her favourite thing is watching the street/lawn from her cat tower.
Wishing everyone at the SPCA a safe and happy holidays/new year.
4 photos attached for you guys :)
Finally! Photos of our beautiful boy 😀 He has a gorgeous personality and has made our place his home very easily.
The top photo was his first weekend with us, the next photo was taken this week, the rest are just at random times in between.
Thank you Nelson SPCA for all that you do!
Kowhai & Kahi are doing very well & living their best lives.
Hi!
I wanted to give an update on Spaghetti (now named Molly)!!
She is doing so well!! Already get so much more confident and comfortable, shes letting us pat her and shes giving us smooches, shes also eating and drinking well and playing lots!!
Update from Tortellini's new world. He's getting more and more brave and comfortable. As you see 😅
From Thors new owners:
Hello
We thought you might like an update on Thor and to see some photos of him in his new home. It’s been nearly two months now since we adopted him and he’s making great progress now. We renamed him Ralph. He took about four weeks until he felt safe enough to leave his bed. We carried his bed into the lounge each evening and put it on the couch beside us so that he could spend time with us on his terms. We let him take things at his own pace and now he’s happily exploring the house and wants to follow me everywhere I go. He’s an incredibly cuddly and affectionate boy.
He had his vet visit over here in Motueka and he handled that very well.
Thanks for taking care of him and giving him a second chance.
From Yoshi's new owners:
She's a very happy girl
From Mojo's new owners:
Thought you might like to see how Bob (Mojo) is doing.
He is spoilt rotten which is way it should be and people love his brindle spot and say how beautiful, gorgeous or handsome he is.
They say he's a big boy but guess he is as he's above our knees in height.
He's a gorgeous boy with a absolutely awesome nature. He is scared of our cat though lol.
From Millies new owners:
I just wanted to send you a few pictures of Millie, who is settling in well to her new home.
She hasn't been out yet, as we want to make sure she knows that she really knows this is her home now.
She relaxes a little more every day and her favourite toys are her SPCA toy and ping pong balls.
Pop Tart's new pawrent is thrilled with her, and Pop Tart is loving life!
Hello,
I am just sending this email to update about Chaplin and would like to thank SPCA for the opportunity of having little Chaplin in my life, he is my little baby now, and a happy boy.
Pinto is still quite a puppy on a leash but will sit, wait and lie down on command.
He's got a bean bag for having cuddles in as he insists on a lap but is getting too long.
Happy days.
Hi,
This is a little update from Freya after 2 weeks with us. She made herself at home and enjoys beach walks. Freya is also really good at taking over the couch and she sleeps a lot on the great pillow she got.
best regards
Hi SPCA Nelson Team,
Reaching out to let you know Spider is loving his new home so far. While we are still settling into each others routines, Spider is already doing great with the transition. He's already responding quite well to training and new commands.
We love our trips to the park for a good crazy run around, and he looks forward to my lunch breaks for a stretch of his legs during the day. He's met our friend's dog and enjoys playing fetch with her. He is happy solving his Kong and other puzzles to keep his mind active and out of mischief (mostly!). He also enjoys chilling out and having the odd nap with us on the couch.
We already love him so much and can see what a fantastic dog he is and will continue to grow into. We look forward to our life with Spider and I think he is really happy with us too!
Thank you for supporting us in our adoption of Spider. You guys do such incredible work with all the animals that you rescue... It's by no means an easy job. Your dedication makes a real difference to these animals lives.
Thanks again
Lotus
Lotus' new parents say he is settling in beautifully so far, enjoying exploring and getting to know their bunny Hazel (through the bars).
Tilly
Tilly's new parents say she is settling in well . They say she's a sweet smoochy girl most of the time and has heaps of energy for play the rest of the time. They are loving having her in the family!
Topsy (now Juno)
Here are a few photos of Topsy (who has now been renamed as Juno) , flat out and enjoying life in her new home. She has settled in really well, and we are absolutely loving her. She has started at ‘puppy preschool’ too,
Minnie
Minnie is settling in well and is loving playing with her new toys (and anything else she can reach!). Everyone is loving having her, she fits in so well with our family.
Tab (now Mr. Monty)
Hi everyone 🙂 Mr Monty is doing absolutely incredibly well.
He's dominating all his favorite spots high and low around the house, he's lovingly kissed and cuddled by my kids every day, he kisses back!
He still curls up and sleeps on my bed within arms reach every night. He also gets me up for his breakfast at 7am daily without fail, with big smooches and purrs.
Thank you for this beautiful young man, we are really grateful that you found him for us! I'm pretty sure he is too 🫠
Evie & Nelly (now Lola)
Hi Nelson team,
Just wanted to let you know that Evie and Lola (prev. Nelly) are settling in well at their new forever home. They are filling the gap that we had in our family after losing our loved girl of 17 years. The house is filled with zoomies, purrs, playtime and generous naps.
A couple of pics attached.
Gloria
After a brief period of checking the house out, Gloria ignored the dog bed, blankets, and after a brief period sitting on the couch decided that she would claim one of the chairs closest to the fire. Now happily snoring away after having taken over the chair and making sure she took a pillow with her 😊
Thank you for our new family member!
Tina (now Luna)
Tina has been renamed Luna, and has become fast friends with her adopters' other dog, Harley. Here are some photo updates of her :)
Mr Darcy (nicknamed Buddy)
He has completed our family and we have all fallen in love with him.
Mr Darcy, (nicknamed buddy) is Alex's best friend. They are great roommates and Alex remains diligent in taking care of all his furry friend's needs.
We invested in a baby gate for the door to his room and when we are home the gate is open and he free roams about and loves playing on the stairs. Mr Darcy always puts himself back to his bedroom when he's finished socializing.
He loves to be picked up, carried and cuddled. He especially loves to jump up for bedtime books and cuddles in bed with Alex. He does binky's around the room at breakfast. He loves our cat Dutchie although the cat is still a little scared of him. Mr Darcy has also made friends with the next-door neighbour's small dog and they love to sit together. After owning outdoor bunnies in the past, I'm definitely finding an indoor bunny sooo much easier to care for.
We can't thank you enough for Mr Darcy.
Johny (now Lenny)
Johny changed his name to Lenny after his love of Leonard Cohen. He had a bit of trouble with cat flu, but the antibiotics are working. He is very happy and super cuddly!
Klein (now Koba)
This is update on Klein now named Koba. He settled in very fast. Is very cuddly and playful. He loves to play with the dogs tail and paws! His character is definitely starting to show.
Curly (now Newt Halliday)
It didn't take more than 2 days for Newt to learn her new name and know that this is her family where she belongs.
Newt loves running and swimming at the beach like a loony, loves playing with all the friends she meets, K9 and human, or just going over to the park to chase her ball. She believes everyone loves her because they do! She loves going out in the car with mum or dad, taking brother to school or going grocery shopping when she gets to enjoy other parks and special treats, she loooooves a puppuccino! 😋 she doesn't mind her baths but she prefers showers. Summer time will bring many more swimming adventures and happy core memories for us all ☺️
We all love Newt very much, she is a very clever, very well-behaved little girl who has adjusted to her new routines seamlessly. She was meant to be part of this family, and now we can't imagine life without her!
Zoe
We adopted Zoe one month ago today so I thought it was a good time to send an update!
As you can see from the photos attached, she's really settled in now and is feeling at home in her new environment. She loves cuddling with the kids, playing on the lawn and her daily beach walks. She was a bit unsettled the first couple of weeks, but now she is comfortable and affectionate with my husband along with other family members. She's a fast learner and generally very well behaved. We all adore her!
We are so grateful for your support and encouragement before, during and after the adoption, and for all the work you must have done to get Zoe ready for a new home. We're delighted to have Zoe as the newest member of our family!
Kevin
Kevin is being spoiled rotten! Loves parsnips and Quince lol. Follows us when we are outside. He's liking the cats and the neighbours sheep's. Doesn't like Possums but who does?
He took a bit of convincing to go outside but his desire to follow us out won his nerves. When we opened the side gate so he could get to a bigger pen he froze and just stared for a while then took off with a wagging tail!
He was "helping" get his morning treats ready this morning!
Man we love him <3
Clara (Now Salem)
Here are some update photos of Salem, formally known as Clara, who we adopted in January. She has settled in well to her new home and is being treated like a princess!
Her favourite thing to play with is her tunnel and she loves to get belly rubs. She also gets on very well with my 9 year old niece.
Olive (Now Dixie)
Thank you both again so much with helping me to find Olive (thinking Dixie for new name and new start). The tower was a great idea! She went right to it and sat in the window for ages, cried a lot while trying to find a way out but then settled for cuddles and is currently asleep on the bed while I work on the computer.
She's eaten and used the litter box already. She is happy and purring a lot. She has claimed 2 chairs already as her own for sleeping and cuddles, one in the bedroom/office and one in the living room.
We're very happy! I think she's going to fit in perfectly :)
Espresso
Espresso and Cadbury (Marmite) have bonded really quickly! She is such a sweetheart, and her ears seem to both be standing upright nowadays 😂
Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Frankie loved the car and is very sweet and friendly with Jess, the greyhound. Our Somali cat has him sussed already. Our Burmilla is keeping her distance but he is very respectful and relaxed here.
He will be loved and looked after well. He’s already following Mike around and listens well to both of us. But we will increase boundaries slowly to build two-way trust for when we are NOT looking, haha. Your team, Kasia, Ellie and others, have done a fantastic job with his training in the time you’ve had him. Their time, effort and care has really paid off. It is so appreciated.
Beach adventure later today. Thanks so much for Frankie and for everything you all do.
Dr. Booplesnoot (Franklin)
I adopted Franklin (a.k.a. Dr Booplesnoot) in December and he's settled in very well.
I'm still trying to bond him with my female rabbit but it's slow going. He has the run of the house during the the day and his own bedroom at night. Just thought you'd like an update 😊
Miso (Galileo)
He was called Miso by his foster mum, we've renamed him Galileo (he still hasn't quite learned his name).
The first week or so that Galileo was home he stayed completely under my bed and didn't really want to interact with us. He started coming out a bit to eat from our hands and to chase flies, after a couple of weeks he decided he didn't like being under the bed anymore and he wanted to be around us.
He's now a very cuddly cat, he loves to lie on his back and get tummy rubs. He's also big on licking, he has woken me up a couple of times by licking my face. When he's not being cuddly he loves to play by sprinting around and jumping after flies (unless they're on the ceiling, when he just sits and meows at them).
I've included some photos of him. He's a very healthy cat, the vet said his weight is perfect and he's becoming so much more confident every day. We feel very lucky to have Galileo and we want to thank the SPCA and his foster family for everything they did for him.
Princess Leia
We thought we should share a later update on the bonding of Leia and Yukio as they are now fully bonded!
Leia loves to groom him and they spend all day near or together, mostly laying under their chairs, eating or in Leia's tunnel. Yukio is yet to groom her, but absolutely loves her attention and will follow her around shoving his head in her face until she licks him!
We are pleased to say Leia has also figured out the cat flap into the house! Her and Yukio come inside most evenings and weekends through it. She is still unsure of us patting her but frequently gives licks for treats. Yukio recently had his teeth shaved down at the vets and Leia was by his side 24/7 while he recovered from the anesthesia at home, grooming him almost the whole time. We will add some photos below.
Thanks again for such an easy adoption, she's truly part of the family now :)
Harmony and Melody 🐔
Harmony and Melody are getting familiar with the family. They are settling in great and love roaming the compost and keep us company in the garden 😀
Luigi (renamed Messi)
Messi is getting use to his forever home and he is already enjoying the kids company and not to mention all the love and attention.
We have an older cat and her name is Midnight. She is slowly accepting him into her space.
Rodger (renamed Rio)
Rio has now been part of our family for a whole year. He fitted right in and it feels like he's been here forever. He has been into schools, camped at Quinneys and learned to deliver the kids towels to them in the shower. I have attached a photo of him and included the link to his personal Instagram account in case you'd like to follow him.

Dana
From Nina, a canine foster carer: "I came across Dana, a huntaway cross that spca had in about a year ago. I have attached a few photos of her. Her new family absolutely love her to bits. They are so grateful to have her".
Holly (Now Loki)
We just wanted to say a huge thank you for little Loki ( previously Holly) The foster family have done such a great job taking care of her. She is curious and playful and so affectionate. Such a loud purr! When she plays, she even has her claws retracted which is impressive for such a young one. She is an absolute delight and we are smitten.
Thank you, particularly Carmen and Amy for allowing us to have her home with us so quickly.
Remus and Molly
The guineas have had a great start. Both still shy but come out when I feed the other piggies. They have both chosen different boxes and are choosing to spend a bit of time apart with Molly preferring the main larger hutch and Remus liking the one on the other side of the enclosure. It is exciting to see them get braver each day! Depending on how they are going, I might try to introduce them to Cubanelle around new years to see how that goes. In the mean time they are just getting loads of space, fresh air and yummy food.
Ps I tried to get a photo but they are still pretty shy and it was raining here. You can see Remus and a bit of Molly's nose sticking out of her favourite box 😂 while I was trying to take the photo peanut and Oreo were indignantly squeaking at me for treats 😂
Murphy
I wanted to share a quick update on Murphy, who found his forever home with us back in November.
Murphy has truly come out of his shell, he’s become a confident and fearless little guy! He and Jojo, my mini-lop prior to adopting Murphy, have formed a close bond and are practically inseparable. They now have a full bedroom setup, and during the day, they have free roam of the entire house. Although I’ve made the backyard completely rabbit-proof, it’s safe to say the outdoors holds no appeal for them, they’re definitely indoor rabbits!
Together, they’ve teamed up to give the German shepherd a run for his money, but everyone is getting along wonderfully. It feels like Murphy has always been a part of the family.
And yes, he's still a chunky lad with a big appetite, he certainly loves his food!
I’ve attached a couple of photos for you to enjoy!
Berta!
As promised some pictures of our lovely Berta. Settling in really well!
Mojo (Now Bob)
Bob on his first day at his new home. Thanks for everything!
Betty (Now Quinn)
One year ago, Betty (now Quinn), came home with us from SPCA Nelson. We love her to bits. Here she is with her first xmas tree with us.
Snacks (now Cinnamon)
I adopted Snacks (now named Cinnamon) on Friday 13/12/24 and I just wanted to share some of the pictures I have of him already
He's such a sweet and loving lil guy, loves to cuddle and play. Also very talkative, likes to let me know what's on his mind.
I woke up this morning to a furry brick of a headbutt from him.
Rupert
Hi team, just wanted to send a couple of updated photos of Sir Rupert. He is so funny, loves playing all the time and has taken a liking to a banana box that he hangs out in most days and plays in lol. His fur has all come through now too. He's such a beautiful calm and cuddly boy. Thank you ❤️
Remi & Ivy
They have now be renamed Sophia and Cleo 💛
Ralphy
Ralphy is doing amazing, I’ll attach some pictures of him for you! We like to go for big walks and he hangs out with my retired grandma while I’m at work now! He’s living his best life.
Jack
Yesterday it was one year since we adopted Jack and he is the best boy.
We have worked with a trainer for the last 6 months as he had become reactive on the lead but he's eager to please and we are doing well now and getting through this blip.
Everyday with Jack in our household is enriched by his presence and the laughs he brings.
Here he is at the beach being fabulous.
Cadbury
I've attached some photos of Cadbury and Toast, who have now bonded and are being very cute!
Cadbury has really come out of his shell and he gets very excited to see me everyday. We're very happy that he has become a part of out family!
Thanks!
Stormy
I thought you might like some pics of stormy and a little update on how he is settling in.
Stormy has made himself at home very quickly. As you know he loves his food and we have enjoyed learning how to get food into the bowl before he gets there! He is very vocal and likes to hang out right next to you whatever you are doing be that work or making dinner -or trying to sleep.
He has loved his new tunnel and ‘hunting’ for treats in it. I have also attached a vid of him playing with an ice cube.
We had a very small walk on the lead. He went well. He is fitting in perfectly!
Cubanelle
Just a quick note to say Cubanelle has settled in beautifully. The easiest introduction I have ever had with guinea pigs! She loves peanut and Oreo.
Thanks for all your help connecting her with us!
Mickey
Just a wee update on Mickey and how his first night went.
He has settled in with our wee family so well, you’d think he has been apart of our family forever! He was slightly standoffish with my husband but after half an hour he was all over him and playing fetch. He slept in his crate and we didn’t hear a peep out of him. Toileting is going well he’s only had one whoopsie and that was our fault for not going outside sooner.
So far so good and we are absolutely head over heels in love with him.
As you can see Lucca is happy and relaxed in our home. At first he was super shy, but he is getting better and better every day.
Angel has been exactly that! An absolute angel 😇 She is the little piece of my family puzzle that has been missing. She has settled in so incredibly well! She isnt bothered by the chickens , parrots or my cat. She is so happy and so playful! I Never thought I would see the day oakley met his match with energy haha she tires him out so quickly, they have already started to form a strong bond and love each other alot. They snuggle up in bed together every night. She is already the boss of him haha. they love going on big walks in the evenings down to the river for zoomies. she is so good off lead and her recall is amazing. She stays close to both oakley and myself and always comes back when called. She is fully on a raw diet now and is at an amazing healthy weight and gets so excited for breakfast and dinner everyday. I just wanted to say a massive thank you for giving me a chance with angel and letting me be her new mumma. She is now with her forever pack. Thank you so much for everything you have done for this wonderful wee girl. She is so happy and so loved. 💗
Just to let you know the ducks are very happy at their new home! They have joined the other group and all living very peacefully as a large group.
We thought we would send you some pictures to show you how we are getting on with our new Mum and Dad. We love them already – they have given us an enormous playground, where we are playing havoc – running and chasing and have so many toys and a great climbing tree! They play with us a lot and also give us lots of cuddles, and we even sneaked into their bedroom in the middle of the night! 😊 They gave us new names – which we decided we quite like as they sound mischievous (they said it was an old movie with a very old famous actor called Bert Reynolds in it!).
Our house (of course, we have already made it quite clear that it is our house now!) has lots of big windows, which means we get to look out at the big wide world outside, which looks like it has a lot to offer in the way of hiding places and adventure. But we’re not ready for that just yet….
Thank you so much foster Mum and Dad for teaching us about humans, how to schmooze with them and well, basically get what we want! All we have to do is look cute – so easy!😊 New Mum and Dad can’t resist us – and they’re supposed to be working but keep playing with us at every opportunity!
We hope you have some new kittens to keep you entertained, and we’re really pleased to tell you we are just fine and having loads of fun! We are settled and very happy in our new home.
Lots of love
Smokey and Bandit (Bolt & Ivan). xxx
Hi, Cocopop has settled into his new home. He's an amazing cat!
He snuggles up in my daughter bed every night.
We adopted Ethel now called Maggie on Wednesday afternoon. I thought you might like to know how she has settled in. The first afternoon and night she just hid under our entertainment unit, but when we got up yesterday she had used the litter box and eaten some food.
Yesterday she also spent most of the day under a chair, but then about 6.30pm when we were watching the TV news she came out on her own and started exploring and had some more food. She then started playing, and sat on our knees, and explored and smelled the lounge again. This morning she was hiding when we got up, but has now started wandering around.
Gypsy decided to sit in my grandsons car seat on the trip home.
And her she is stretched out in front of the fire. Gypsy is settling in nicely!
Batman is doing wonderfully and has made good friends with Peanut. He doesn’t mind Oreo either. He is hilarious- he follows peanut around everywhere and is very vocal! A few photos attached.
Thank you again! :)
Just wanted to let you know Washington or Apollo as we’ve named him is doing really well.
He’s happy, content, loving life.
I just wanted to share our girls with you
Penny royal now called Luna and dandelion now called Narla.
They are both so bonded with eachother, sleep, eat, play, use the litter boxes at the same time 🤣
They are just so beautiful and bring such joy to our lives.
Enjoy the cute pics
Basil (was Hewey) was adopted to me about a month ago and we are having a long term caravan holiday, but are parked up for the cold winter months at a friends place in Riwaka. Basil is wonderful, he thinks wearing a harness is normal and it does not bother him a bit. He travels very well in the car, his carrier is up high and he seems to really enjoy looking out the window as the world goes by.
Basil has met sheep, cattle, ducks and a small dog, a cow threw him a bit because it was keen on the apple I gave it ( and it is really big!), otherwise he has taken everything in his stride. I have had older rescue cats most of my life and this is the first time having a cat who is not afraid - I aim to keep it that way.
His biggest concern is that he is not allowed to kill birds, so its not a purrfect world after all - never mind....
As a teenager he tends to be a little over enthusiastic with claws and teeth, I have had a few holes in me but we are slowly coming to a better understanding.
I asked you folk to choose a cat likely to be OK with my current lifestyle, I would say you got it 100% right, and I really dont think Basil has too many complaints either.
Thanks so much for helping us get together.
Here’s a photo of Dolly, she is a very good girl. She sleeps all night and toilets outside every time.
Thanks for letting us adopt her!
We adopted Purslane. He is now called Harry, he knows his name and has settled in. Thought send you some pics of him .
He is so very loved in our house. He a wee character.
Thank you for your work with Valspar. We are thoroughly enjoying his company! He is such a friendly, playful cat.
Chip is such a cutie pie and so chill and happy.
The new owner has been taking him on lots of adventures as you can see on the photos
Now called Gwen, she's settling in well and coming out of her shell :-)
Here are some photos of Badger being Badger. She is obsessed with our little trampoline!
Buttercup aka Belle is setting in well. She is with our big gentle giant sheep Floyd today and then will be introduced to our lambs, which are huge compared to her! We let her out in the paddock this morning and still came up to eat from our hands, so she will do well here.
I am emailing to let you know about our recent adoption of Maisie (AKA Queen Bee). Maisie has been with us for around two months and has settled in, even better than expected. She absolutely adores her older brother Felix and he is very patient and calm with her. The first time they met there wasn't a single hiss or sign of aggression from either of them, which was a great sign from the start. In fact, it was hearing Felix meow outside the garage door that finally encouraged Maisie to come out of hiding on her second day home. They sleep and play and spend all their time together.
Maisie sleeps on my daughter's bed every night and enjoys exploring outdoors in our backyard. She doesn't seem too keen to go far from home, which is a blessing!
She is a very loved and happy member of our family. Thank you for the opportunity to adopt her!
I just thought I would give you an update on gorgeous little Kiko.
It didn't take her very long to become best friends with Blue and they're often cuddling or attempting to groom each other. (as in the pictures) Kiko is a bit of an escape artist though, she has the whole yard to run free in but its still not big enough for her so she rattles the fence everyday or tries to run out the front door or sneak out the garage when your not looking.
She's not so keen on hanging out with me, she would prefer to think of clever ways to escape, find new places to hide, dig holes to China, she's very clever and is far too busy to hang out with dumb humans.... unless she wants a scratch or treat. Her and Blue sleep together in the evenings and he is so happy to have a friend after losing his sister.
She is a lovely little rabbit, even the cat and dog get on ok with her.... in fact sometimes they also stand at the fence with her plotting their escape.
She is spoilt and is a lovely family member so thank you.
Dog is loving life in his new home up North with on of our vet student volunteers!
We adopted Seth a little while ago and thought that I would just send through an update on how he’s doing.
We absolutely adore him and he is such a loved member of our family. He now runs around inside and outside, we watch him hobble down into the grassy paddocks behind us. Every time he comes home, he meows the house down until he gets a cuddle. Then gets straight into his food.
He sleeps on the bed with us at night time, and some nights literally sleeps ON TOP of me. When we go to give him love, he does this little flop in front of us and shows us his belly to scratch.
Our two and a half year old, Gus — adores him the most. As he is the loudest member of our family, Seth took some time to warm up to him, but not definitely tolerates him! They are building their little relationship little by little, but we are getting there. Gus calls Seth “Seff” “Seffie”!
We can’t thank you enough for allowing Seth to become part of our family. It would be greatly appreciated if you could let his Foster Mum know that he is doing so well.
Thought you would appreciate these beautiful photos. We are doing well, they are getting on well, we had some moments but that's expected and we are just getting gates so they can see each other in the house and all going well. She is beautiful and we love her as much as we love Caesar. She goes on many hikes, especially over the farm, which she loves! They so look forward to trekking across the farm and soon will go back to parks etc as well.
Taco has bought so much joy and laughter to our lives! We can't imagine life without him now. He's up for anything, anytime, anywhere: swimming, boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, tenting, gaming, fetching pinecones, sticks, balls, frisbee and Nerf. Taco is great with kids, my 84 year old litlle mother and other dogs. He's incredibly affectionate and very happy to snuggle on the sofa and fall asleep with us after an outing.
Taco regularly falls off the sofa and when there is not much room on it he stands on his head - he's a giant goof ball and we love him to bits xx ❤️ 💕
Kowai is making great progress. We love our little addition to the family.
I took Kōwhai to the beach last night & she loved it. Pretty much dove straight in and went for a swim. Such a brave little pup.
Kowahi and Kahi got on pretty well. She knows her way around the house already.
Just thought I would send through a photo to show you how Yukon who is now known as Ollie is getting on.
This is him with a family dog who is also a rescue. 😊
We thought you might like to hear how Freda is getting on (adopted 18th December). She has settled in incredibly well and quickly! Her first night here she hopped onto my knee and settled down for a sleep. Night #2 I found her sleeping on our bed and we haven't really looked back!
We let her outside for a supervised look around on day 10 and pleased to report she didn't stray far from the house and raced inside anytime she got a bit overwhelmed. Outside time is still restricted to when we are at home and able to keep an eye on her.
She is incredibly patient and tolerant of our toddler (who loves her to pieces) and we really couldn't have found a better fit for our family. I often wonder why no one took her before we came along and came to the conclusion she was just meant for us!
Thank you from our family for helping this beautiful cat - we all love her very much <3
Princess Penelope has settled in so well, we call her Nellie for short. She's an indoor/outdoor lady and she absolutely loves it. She loves our dog Archie too and has respect for our other Persian, Maggie (promoted to Queen Margaret when Princess Penelope moved in). We think she's a bit younger than the SPCA originally thought, closer to 1 year old. She is so playful!
We can't remember life without her, she's such an important and loved part of our family 😻
Photos attached. Her coat is furever changing, I'll send more pictures when it's fully grown.
Here is a photo of Tilly within just a few hours of us arriving home.
She has eaten, biscuits and soft food, taken her medication and used her litter tray. She spent the night on our bed and was up looking for breakfast early.
She has checked out the whole house and found no dangers so is settling in well. She certainly has fallen on her feet. A very affectionate cat.
We will keep you posted.
Regards
We just wanted to give an update on Criss Cross, she is doing so well, each day she surprises us with something new, and her fun personality shines.
Heres an update on Olivers first week..
Oliver hated the ride back but he was ok once he got home, he started using his litter box straight away and will only pee in there not anywhere else.. I didn't have to do anything to teach him, although I did take some litter from Maggies box and put it in his, hoping he would understand what it was for and it definitely worked.
He loves his free roam time, and constantly does binkies and Zoomies.
Maggie was skeptical of her new house buddy and hasn't quite warmed up to him enough for me to start giving them playdates together. Oliver doesn't quite understand all the bunny language yet I think, he gets excited when she comes near his enclosure and he runs up to her to say hi and stands up and I think Maggie sees it as hes trying to chase her for dominance which makes her growl and bite at the fence. Today for the first time they layed down side by side through the enclosure, she also started eating beside him too so that seems promising. Im still taking it slow though because shes probably still grieving losing Thistle.
Oliver had a good Christmas I think, well he definitely enjoyed us being home for a few days and getting attention. He even allowed me to put a hat on him. 😊
Hes so cute, hes just the sweetest.
Hey team
We adopted Jett (original name Bandit) from the SPCA in February this year. I wanted to share some pics with you and let you know that we love Jett so much and are so grateful to the Nelson SPCA for him to come into our lives.
Merry Christmas!
Marcella living the best life .
Thought you might like a photo. Day 1 and today.
Thank you so much, Jack has settled in with us, his impeccable manners and nature has earned the moniker “Gentleman Jack”
We love him so much and he has visits to my mum who calls him her Grandog”
It’s been a while since Blue whom we adopted as a senior rescue died and we felt ready to welcome another into our lives.
We appreciate all the caring you do.
❤️
I thought I would send you an update on Teddy and Bear, now 10 days in with their new family.
Teddy and Bear are AMAZING pets! They have settled so well, they are very calm and docile whilst still being absolute characters. Angus and Emily, the kids, love them so much. I have to laugh, as I had prepped the kids that it might take a week or two before we could earn their trust enough for them to want cuddles or handfeeding. They certainly were timid for the first 2 days but after that they clicked and between kids and guineas there is definitely a mutual adoration society happening!
They have a good routine, in the mornings before school the children cuddle them whilst I clean out the hutch and replace water and pellets/hay. Eventually the kids will do this too. In the afternoon they get cuddles and fresh vege treats (bok choy and spinach are their favourites) with the kids and then Bear gets his daily brush and trim of any tangles with me. Bear hated being brushed the first few times, but now quite happily sits still while I do it, and nibbles away at the same time on whatever tasty treat is at hand. Before dinner they get a fresh dinner delivered to the run, then they tend to popcorn and run about in the run for the next few hours before we shut them in the hutch overnight.
The routine didn't take long for the guinea pigs to learn, and now they get ready for cuddle sessions by presenting themselves to us for an easy lift, no running away or chasing them!
They are just so sweet and are bringing us so much joy.
Thank you for letting us be the ones to be their new family.
I have attached some photos of them and one of the run/hutch set up.
Just an email as we had adopted the lovely Dottie. Kids have named her Lilly (don't ask😊) and she has settled right in and is adored by all and lovely with the kids. She sleeps at our feet.
Thanks. We love her so much
Just thought I would send you an update on Dunkin and Minnie. They are living their best life and are very content.Once they had settled in which took no time, they were hilarious. They did zoomies, jumped and ran around like lambs. They are supper smart, have mastered the ramp up to the second floor of the chock house and have their favourite spots to siesta. They come up for pats and are loving the food selections of garden greens
Thanks again,they are gorgeous bunnies.
Five weeks have passed since I adopted Sebastian. He has settled into his new home, and is comfortable enough to assert himself and let me know what he wants. Even though he has access to food all the time, he expects I have something for him every time I approach.
During the day, Sebastian has an armchair he likes to sleep in and at night he sleeps on my bed by my feet. I enjoy his company very much, even if he does wake me up in the night with his digging on the bed.
I haven't let Sebastian out into the garden yet, as I want him to get used to the house and know it as his safe place if something frightens him when I do eventually let him outside. I'm a little anxious as he's so small and there have been so many cats around lately.
I don't have a camera or mobile phone so can't take any photos to send.
Dear SPCA
I just wanted to give you an update on Stormy the Amstaff, she turned 2 in June and I adopted her when she was just over 1.
Stormy is 100% living her best life here on the farm in Golden Bay and is a very very ohappy dog. She is a superstar and has grown in to such a wonderful companion to me. Everybody loves her and she's always attracting new fans. She's allowed on many a couch and bed of my friends, and definitely thinks she's a human in so many ways.
Stormy is still a sensitive soul and sometimes wary girl that responds well to kindness, patience and understanding of her sensitivities. We are a perfect match and we are never apart.
Stormy LOVES swimming and is an excellent swimmer, no fear in the water and would fetch a stick all day from the sea if I gave her the chance! She gets to swim in the river and the sea often.
Her happy place is rolling on her back, she absolutely loves wiggling with her legs in the air and grins like a goof when doing so. The only downside is that she also LOVES to roll in anything rotting from the pits of hell so I have to watch her like a hawk when we're out and about!
Stormy loves to sleep woof and howl like a wolf, the first time she did it I got the fright of my life but now I laugh as it means she's had the best day ever when she's dreaming.
Stormy has a best friend called Willow. We look after Willow a few times a week so the two of them get to have long adventurous walks together on the beach or around the golf course, reserves, woods, or beachfront pathways. When it's wet they will play on the beanbag inside for hours, two hilarious peas in a pod.
We visit the vet a couple of times a week just to say hi and get treats, they love her there. As soon as I adopted her we began visiting the vets just to get Stormy used to the place in case she ever needed attention (which she hasn't), and she hops on the scales so I can keep track of her weight. All of the staff want to give her treats as they all adore her, Stormy can't wait to get in there when we arrive! It's part of our routine now.
Stormy is also welcomed in to so many of the shops in town now, I've lost count, everyone wants their Stormy time and we are pleased to oblige, it's great for her mind and social enrichment to go to so many different places and see different people that she's become familiar with.
Thank you so much for allowing Stormy to choose me to be her mum, she's the best .... she takes after my beloved Jake R.I.P. (he was also adopted from the Nelson SPCA), he was the very best! I am so lucky to have hit the jackpot with both of my dogs from you.
I've attached a few photos ....
Just sending photos of Norbert and Pickles. Happily bonded despite the size difference!
We thought you might like a bunny pic. Coco escaped for about 3 weeks and was caught on Friday by me. We had noticed she had made a friend in the wild rabbit world so we took her to the vets on Friday to scan the chip. We were a bit nervous thinking I had caught her wild rabbit friend but at last it was Coco!
They are both happy, Leo is ecstatic having been alone in the house for those 3 weeks.
Hey team,
You guys are awesome and we have 3 SPacA specials, the latest being Loki, formerly McLaren.
Just a quick message to say he is the most beautiful, relaxed, friendly little darling and we all love him to bits, including the dogs!
Big thank you to Loki’s foster family who obviously gave him the best start to life!
It's been just over a year since we bought these gorgeous pair home thought you would like an update on how they are and have included some photos. Both rabbits are amazing. Cinderellla is the calm and chilled of the 2 loves lots of cuddles and affection. Prince Charming (originally Theo) likes the odd cuddle but is always on guard and certainly a Prince to his wife.
I saw your note about sending pics of pets in their new home. Here’s a couple of Pippa.
Thanks for all you do for animals who need love and help finding a home.
Ngā mihi,
Now named Cookie and Cream. As u can see only one of us likes having our picture taken.
Summer and Winter are doing great!
Winter is very cheeky and likes to get into trouble and Summer loves playing in cardboard boxes. They both love mint and dandelions, and are slowly warming up to celery and cauliflower leaves. They both enjoy being outside in the hutch during the day in the sun.
They are still getting use to my family and I, but in the last few days they’ve finally been coming over for pats!
I’ll send more pictures in a few weeks.
Blossom finally bonded with her bunny mate 🙂
Lesson learned - sometimes it isn't love at first sight buuuut it can still turn into love 😉
Ruby and Sally fit in nicely with the other girls. Turns out that Ruby was the one that pushes Sally around not the rest of the clan but Sally and Nugget, the two red brown ones on the end gets on great and Ruby is the bossy one and gets on with Hairy McLarry ( the tan one). Ruby is confident and pushed her way right into the group where Sally is very placid and like to stay in the coop area for the first week. I ended picking her up and putting her in the grass, she ran straight back but since the weekend I see she is now out and about with the rest eating grass too so she is slowly finding her way.
The rats that is now called Remi and Emile (from Ratiolli Movie) are very spoiled. We are currently doing a rat photo shoot as we turned my daughter, Linca's old 3 story doll house into an extended rat cage, so there is a pipe running from the original cage to the dollhouse and apparently it needs "family photos" on the walls. I will send you some picks when they are done. They love chicken and I started a mealworm farm for them and of course they want nothing to do with the worms. Our chickens love them though so not a total waste.
I just wanted to send some pictures of our new puppy Raven in his new home. We’ve had him for just over 1 month and are really glad to have him in our family (despite some challenges 😅)
Zeus and Wilbur are best buds! ♡
Yaka, who is now Amica. She is such a lovely well behaved little girl and we are SO glad we kept her.
(Photos received from Vespa's parents)
Just to let you know that Jasper has settled in and is absolutely living the dream 🤣🤣. Thanks so much for everyone’s help.
It was love at first sight Donald finally has his Daisy!
Veyda (We changed her name again, comes from Darth Vader) and her soon to be Husbun Winston.
Our GORGEOUS and VERY CLEVER AIDA...out on our Deck in her Fluffy Bed which
Rob recently bought for Her.
CLEVER...Because she sits at my feet when I go to the fridge, lifts her front leg and
'Nods' It...as if to say...'Yes, I'd like some Milk Please VAL'!
CHEERS!
We adopted 2 kittens Crabcake & Scampi last Tuesday from you and would like to let you know they are really settling in well to our home and are really happy in their new environment and we have re-named them Timmy & Millie. Whilst Millie was a little shy and timid in the first few days and would fret if Timmy left her sight she has really started coming out of herself and whilst still loves following him and snuggling with him she loves playing and snuggling next to me on the couch! Timmy is a confident little explorer and loves his snuggles and sleeping on our laps! We absolutely love them and want to thank you and the amazing job you all do out there for the animals in need!
Good afternoon just a quick update to let you know how well Tiger has settled in.
We adore him as much as he loves us he has become the perfect addition to our family
Is always with us if we are relaxing he is draped over for cuddles if we are out around the farm he's there too
Full of character too
Thanks very much
Ducks seemed cautious but very happy. I'll pop down this morning to check they ate the food I left for them. They really liked the water and didn't want to come out.
Just wanted to update you. Mimi and arlo have settled in super quickly, more so Mimi than Arlo as expected. Mimi loves running up and down the house and doing lots of binkies. Arlo had a little panic when the kids came over and bit one of their hands pretty badly but I think he’ll need lots of time to get used to them! I’ve attached some pictures below too😊
I thought you might enjoy getting an update on Olive. She has successfully bonded with our other bunny, Scamper. They are happily sharing food, grooming each other, and sharing the two-story hutch, outdoor spaces, and tunnels. We are beyond thrilled for both of them and to see them so happy and zipping around.
Milo and Pebbles seem to have settled in well. They seem pretty relaxed and happy with each other in their new home. The kids have been very good with looking after them and following up their cleaning duties.
Both EX-SPCA buns :)
I adopted Roxy (Trolley) on 1st July last year. She was a very very timid cat but very loving and sweet.
I wanted to give you an update now that she is well settled in and seems to be liking her new home and new Cat’s Mother.
She is a beautiful kitty and I absolutely adore her. She is over at least 90% of her timidity, still a bit unsure of visitors but I am confident she will eventually feel comfortable with my friends.
Rather than being just a Moggie, having looked at her features and colouring I am pretty sure she is part Norwegian Forest Cat, though on the small side. She is very intelligent and understands a lot of words and things I say to her. She can be quite a chatterbox too. She comes when I call and whistle her when she is outside and when I say go to beddie, she gets into her bed on mine and sleeps there when I go out. She is a true delight and now bosses me about a bit, which is a good sign that she is comfortable in her new forever home. She is a sweet and loving companion. How lucky am I??
So thank you one and all for allowing me to adopt her. I can assure you she is being well looked after and spoilt too if the truth be known. I have attached some photos so you can see she spends quite a bit of time on my knee relaxing.
Well Oakley has only been home for 15 min’s and has found a sunny spot in the house and flopped .
Here a short vid of Oakley all warned out after running around flat out for the last few hours.
Thought I would send a new pic of how we spend our evenings after work and Oakley is struggling to stay awake again after running around and jumping everywhere .
Oakley has had a big morning so a lunchtime nap was needed.
Hey! I think it's almost been a week so here's a recap.
Ziggy had fitted in amazingly in to our home still a bit hormonal but our girl bun loved him immediately, he's a real cuddle bun and loves his greens and all his treats, I will send you more updates as more time goes on.
Thanks guys!
Franki (Fern) is settling in well.
We will start some Pooch lessons in May with Cat Watson.
Thank you
Just wanted to let you know Isabella aka Lizzie (Bluebell) had a great first night. She seems very happy and starting to relax. She loves her ball which we found 2 in her bed 🤣 she loves cuddles and ate all her dinner. She slept great. Will keep you updated but so far so good. To say the least she has our hearts.
Thanks again,
Hi I just wanted to give the team an update of how Polly is settling in.
She's doing great! We kept her just in the laundry and then in one other bedroom and now she has the run of the house. We haven't let her outside yet and she's not showing much interest to go out.
She's is a very loving cat who is starting to show her personality and playfulness.
Not great quality pictures sorry but you can see she's settling in well.
Thankyou, they love each other.
Grooming each other. Binking and flopping. Even loving us grooming them. Eating together, laying together. If we pick up one the other comes up until they are both in your lap. Very happy. Hard to get a better photo. That have huge area but hang out together all the time.
(Alfie and PomPom)
Thought I would message and say thanks so much for your help in adopting these cute babies, they are all happy and settling into their new home :)
Last year, about June -ish, we adopted wee Lockie and here's an update on his progress.
First up he had a slight name change to Flockie, after the Viking navigator Floki (full name Hrafna-Flóki Vilgerðarsson) as we are fans of the Vikings TV series as well as one of us being 10% Nordic. It was as if it was meant to be.
Initially Flockie was very timid but we gave him lots of attention and let him explore at his own pace. Now he has numerous spots around the home and garden where he appears to be extremely comfortable.
A few months ago we did some minor renovations that included new skirting boards, which needed to be painted. Naturally he instantly became site supervisor and put his nose in, literally. This resulted in a tiny white dot in the centre of his nose for a few days.
Flockie has never had a problem eating nor has he been shy in demanding food but that's the nature of the beast, he gets what he wants but hasn't become overweight. He is in great condition, has a shiny coat, an awesome character and is much loved. Being somewhat handsome doesn't do him any harm either.
We continue to care for Flockie's every need without question and he gives us both joy and attitude in return. He is healthy, happy, fed, housed, much loved and long may it continue.
Zazzu has gone really well this afternoon. It's going way better than we had hoped he is letting us pat him and he seems curious and comfortable in his new home.
Tinkerbell has been pretty generous with hospitality and has been so far just a bit curious about everything.
We are feeling a lot more confident already. Fingers crossed for next few weeks
Thanks for everything .
He's here!
To all of those who helped nurse this sweet angel back to health, he has arrived safe and sound with me in Palmerston North and the bonding process has started. He has a 3x3x1.8 enclosure, a children's playhouse, and unlimited hay. We are so happy to have him with us. I knew he was meant to be mine the moment I met him (and naming him didn't help with trying to remain unattached 😂).
Fast friends sharing a party pear. Getting over his shyness fairly quickly with new mates.
I just wanted to share with you how happy we are with our new little kitty we adopted from you just last week. Her name was Nevo, which we’ve changed to Nova.
She is an absolute doll! By the second night she was snuggling with us in bed, eating out of our hands and demanding cuddles. She is a purr-machine, loves to chase her new toys, and loves to lay in the sun. She is the perfect cat for us, we can confidently leave her home all day while we are at work, knowing she will be content to explore her new home, sleep and play. It is actually quite hard to get a decent picture of her, she’s always in motion lol
It has been less than a week and we are already best friends! She is exactly what we needed to make our little family complete 🥰 We love her so much!!!
Thank you for bringing her into our lives!
Just had to share this pic of Chip and Juno ❤ Was so worth the time bonding.
Have a happy and safe Christmas!
It’s taken forever but here are a few photos of Reggie (was walnut). We are still smitten with him and his incredible chilled personality. He and Flopsy are now side by side and pretty settled next to each other and have had a couple of short supervised dates although Flopsy seems a little nervous around him without the separation of a fence so we are taking dates and bonding very slowly as want it to be a permanent lovely bond!
Dottie is doing well and we adore her.
She's fitted in with our routines and is now very comfortable around our cat.
We can see her various idiosyncrasies, she can be agressive when scared and we will undertake some training and we try to reinforce good behaviour with rewards and cuddles. She will allow us to pick her up now and toilet training has not been an issue, she's only been caught short once.
All the best,
Kia Ora Nelson SPCA
I wanted to write and give you an update on Tys (Tyson) our 10month old pup we adopted on Friday last week.
Him and our other furbaby Baz have been getting along better than we could have ever imagined. They have created a muddy race track around our yurt and hut from chasing eachother, they play tug-of-war, play fight (soft mouthing) they share toys and drink water from the same bowls. Baz is happy with Tys using his outside house during the day and Tys isn't bothered when Baz decided to try out his bed, Tys then when and lay on Baz's pile of blanlets and both our boys were happy. Baz sleeps on our bed and Tys sleeps on his bed on the floor beside my husband. He is learning the rules and routines in our household from both his hummans and his new brother.
Baz has growled him a few times when they are playing but only when Tys got his tail and within a few minutes they were back hanging out.
We have registered Tys with our local council and are planning on taking him to some puppy socializing groups in town to make sure he's good with diffrent types of dogs and not just his brother.
We can't wait to spend more time with Tys and truley get to know his personality and in the future take him tramping with us.
Thankyou for allowing us to bring him into our whanau.
Hi!
I wanted to give an update on Spaghetti (now named Molly)!!
She is doing so well!! Already get so much more confident and comfortable, shes letting us pat her and shes giving us smooches, shes also eating and drinking well and playing lots!!
Oliver now named raptor 😁 had a great night, eating playing ,purring follows us around , will send more updates, thank you so much ☺️☺️☺️ kind regards
She has been great!! Adapted very well to home and her recall is getting really good.
She's only escaped once so far, and that was because stella left :)
