April

Take a deep breath! Air is something most of us take advantage of. Humans breathe about 9.5 tons of air in a year, but oxygen only makes up about 23T of that air, by mass and we only extract a little over 1/3 of the oxygen from each breath. That comes to about 740kg of oxygen per year or about 7 to 8 trees worth. Trees are very important to our survival.

For hte month of April, our mission is in honor of Earth Day (later this month). One dollar ($1) buy 1 tree at teamtrees.org. So far, over the course of 3 years, Teamtrees has planted over 23,000,000 trees. There are many places across the world still in need of trees. There are many projects that are still inneed of trees. The more trees we have on the Earth the cleaner and healthier our air will be andour lives will become.

For every $1.00 you donate, pick up a tree and tape it to the piece of land on the map at the front of church. Take a deep breath! Air is something of which most of us take advantage. Humans breathe about 9.5 tons of air in a year, but oxygen only makes up 23% of that air, by mass, and we only extract a little over 1/3 of that from each breath. That works out to a total of about 740Kg of oxygen per year. That's about 7 or 8 trees worth. So trees are very important to our survival. That's why for the month of April our missions in honor of Earth Day later this month we are going to donate to buy trees. One dollar buys 1 tree at teamtrees.org. So far over the course of two years, Team Trees has planted over 2,800,000 trees. California as part of the wildlife restoration effort, Florida after devastation from a hurricane, Georgia to support their state forests, and Nicaragua to build financial security and sustainable livelihoods. Some of these projects have met their mark and some are ongoing. There are over 40 projects, 20 of which are complete but many are still in need of trees.

So every time you donate $1.00 in the basket, pick up a tree and tape it to onto the piece of land. Right now it's pretty bare,  but over the course of this month we will see the trees fill up the space and we will all breathe easier for our efforts. If you donate more than $1.00, take 1 or 2 trees and put them up. The more trees we have on the earth, the cleaner and healthier our air will be and the better our lives will become.
