I was born and raised in Brookhaven which is a small town located in central Mississippi. As the youngest of 4 children of Lamar and Ruby Barnes, I've always been spoiled but also extremely determined. In middle school, I started playing alto saxophone, but immediately started singing once I learned voice control. I led songs in the local church choir as well as our school's choir at Brookhaven High. Alcorn State University, Lorman, MS is where I received my B.S. in Music Education and Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, AR is where I received my Master's Degree in Education in Theory and Practice.
Working as a music teacher for the last 10 years has been amazing! I've worked with ages ranging from Pre-K to 12th grades and have loved every minute of it! During the years, I've taught in Texas and Arkansas receiving Teacher of the Year, Teacher of the District, and NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellow.
Hobbies that I truly enjoy include dancing, fashion (styling), and jamming to various styles of music. Jesus Christ is my best friend and Yoga is too! Traveling, trying new food, and painting also bring joy to my life!
