Monitoring the temporal dynamics of urban expansion is crucial in estimating future trends and developing appropriate planning strategies. This study employed datasets such as GAIA, GUB, and ESA 10m 2020 landcover to generate a comprehensive map of Ho Chi Minh City's urban development over a 30-year period (1988-2018). The analysis provides insights into the City's development patterns in both spatial and temporal aspects, facilitating more informed planning decisions and future growth projections. More info.
The cause of land subsidence in Ho Chi Minh City is mainly attributed to the over-exploitation of groundwater. To determine the severity of land subsidence, a set of tools and open-source scripts, including ESA-SNAP, snap2stamps, and StaMPS-Matlab were used to process 22 pairs of Sentinel 1 SLC images (from 08-06-2020 to 15-02-2021) using the Persistent Scatterer Interferometry (PS-InSAR) method. This technique is known for its high level of accuracy, providing measurements with a precision of up to millimeters. More info
Any object or area can be transformed into point clouds via drone-based photogrammetry. A 3D flythrough animation of an estimated 4000 m3 capacity reservoir was created using a high-resolution drone-based orthomosaic overlayed on a digital elevation model.
The Environmental Impact Assessment of a power plant's thermal effluent was conducted with the aid of simulations. The assessment included a comprehensive analysis of the thermal impact caused by the project's cooling operations, taking into account the influence of strong tides and worst-case scenarios. Flood risk assessment (FRA) is a crucial step in site planning and development as it allows for the identification of potential flood hazards and suggests measures for mitigation. SAR Sentinel 1 satellite provides an effective tool for analyzing a site's flood history. A water occurrence map of the project site was generated by analyzing 135 ESA SAR Sentinel1 images from 2016 to 2020, which provides valuable insights for understanding the flooding patterns in the Project area.
This web-based geographic information system (GIS) tool incorporates drone technology for mapping and providing real-time aerial monitoring and progress tracking of construction projects. The system uses high-resolution imagery captured by drones to create detailed 2D/3D maps, which can be viewed and analyzed remotely by project managers and stakeholders. The tool also offers features such as project timeline tracking, task management, and collaboration tools, allowing for more efficient project management and decision-making. More info
To assess the eutrophication of urban water bodies, NDCI derived from Sentinel 2 imagery was used. The high-resolution 20-meter Red Edge band allows for accurate rankings of the state of the water bodies, which are particularly vulnerable to urban waste. More info
Cropland was analyzed using false composite images of amplitude, phase, and max-NDVI values. The map shows the croplands in Ninh Thuan during 2018 as colored pixels with high phase and amplitude, while non-croplands are represented as grey/dark pixels with low phase/amplitude. More info
Transform and transfer complex environmental and climate data into actionable insights, empowering industries and organizations to navigate the complexities of environmental challenges with confidence and make sustainable decisions.
Typhoon Yagi was the strongest typhoon to reach the Vietnamese coast in the past 70 years. The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicted it at level 16, and classified it as a super typhoon . More info
