On May 5, 2026, the College of Engineering and the College of Biomedical Science and Engineering at National Central University jointly hosted an EMI (English-Medium Instruction) faculty development workshop, featuring Fulbright speaker Allison Baker. The workshop featured Fulbright speaker Allison Baker, who shared practical teaching strategies to improve clarity and student comprehension in EMI classrooms.Titled “Make Your Message Stick,” the workshop focused on effective communication in English-medium teaching. Topics included articulation, pronunciation, pacing, instructional delivery techniques, and strategies for checking student understanding. Through real examples and interactive discussions, participants were encouraged to reflect on their teaching from the students’ perspective. The session also highlighted practical approaches such as rephrasing, chunking content, and incorporating interactive methods like Think-Pair-Share to enhance student engagement. Participants found the workshop insightful and applicable to their teaching practice. This workshop not only facilitated meaningful exchanges among faculty members but also demonstrated the College’s ongoing commitment to advancing EMI teaching quality and fostering an internationalized learning environment.
On March 5, 2026, the College of Engineering at National Central University hosted a faculty salon titled “Uedu Teaching Practice Platform Sharing.” The session invited Prof. Chang Chia-Kai from the Center for General Education to introduce Uedu, an AI-assisted teaching platform developed at NCU, and to share practical experiences of integrating the platform into classroom teaching and learning interaction. The event continued the College’s tradition of a relaxed “lunch-and-discussion” format, encouraging faculty members to exchange ideas on the use of AI in education. During the presentation, Prof. Chang introduced several key features of the Uedu platform, including AI-assisted dialogue learning, automated quiz generation, real-time translation, and learning analytics. These tools help instructors design courses more effectively while enhancing student engagement and understanding. The session also sparked lively discussions among faculty members on practical classroom applications of AI-supported teaching tools. Through this faculty salon, participants gained valuable insights into innovative teaching practices and explored new possibilities for integrating AI into engineering education.
