In 1981, Coyote Point Museum for Environmental Education was opened with new exhibition halls, classrooms and theatre. The museum almost closed in 2006 as a result of financial challenges but was saved with a significant campaign completed in 30 days to keep the museum open under new leadership. In 2011, the museum becomes CuriOdyssey to better reflect the insitution's revitalization and renewed focus on hands-on science education.
CuriOdyssey's history reflects that of our local genetic counselors conferences which begun as Region VI meetings. The meetings ended in 2004 when funding ceased and online education became more popular. In 2013, a dedicated core of genetic counselors from the Bay Area revived the spirit of the regional conferences in the form of the 1st Greater Bay Area Genetic Counselors Conference. We are proud to partner with CuriOdyssey to offer the 5th annual regional conference in this relaxing and educational setting!
