Francisco Martin Duran:
Was born in 1968 to a mother with five additional children, each with a different father. His unstable life and lack of resources led to his first arrest at the age of 17 for theft. Duran also had a short run in the military before a court-martial, which led to a three-year prison sentence. In an attempt to save the world from the "alien mist" he believed to plague the Colorado mountains, he was determined to kill the mist at its source: the President of the United States. On October 24, 1994, in an attempt to kill Bill Clinton, Duran fired 29 rounds into a crowd of tourists, mistaking one of the bystanders as the President; no parties were critically injured.
Vladimir Arutyunian:
One of the many U.S. citizens who faced economic hardships in the aftermath of the fall of the Soviet Union. Vladimir struggled to find employment in the new economic climate, even joining the Democratic Union for Revival in frustration with the lack of work. Unsatisfied with the effectiveness of the Union, Vladimir attempted the life of George Bush Jr. in 2005. While the president was making an appearance in Tbilisi's Central Liberty Square, Arutyunian threw a grenade wrapped in a handkerchief at the President, hoping the explosion would break through the proactive bullet-proof glass.
