2024-2026 Biennium

In 2022 as North Carolina state chaplain, I planned an Omega Service for the state convention with the theme “Remembering Our Stars.” I made stars to honor each of the 76 sisters who joined the Omega chapter. I wanted to my logo and theme to honor each of us as an individual and all of us as a group. We are all “The Stars of Alpha Delta Kappa.” We were chosen by chapter sisters who saw within us the spark that made us succeed in our profession and in our communities.  We became part of Alpha Delta Kappa.

The four large gold stars represent the Vision, Mission and Purposes of Alpha Delta Kappa—Altruism, World Understanding, Excellence in Education and Diversity and Inclusion.

The three medium sized green stars represent those of us who are members and participate in and share the vision, mission, and purposes of our organization—YOU, ME, and all of US.

These seven stars together represent the seven regions of Alpha Delta Kappa.  The seven small white stars represent the seven states that make up our Southeast Region. The multi-colored Alpha Delta Kappa logo helps us to remember we are part of the International organization.

Each of us has the opportunity and capability to make a difference in our chapter and community. Stars are symbols of excellence. Reach for excellence as you and your chapters make a difference through your altruistic projects, supporting your sisters and reaching out to understand others around the world.

There is a quote which is found in many places on the internet comparing sisters and stars. “Sisters are like stars. You don’t always see them, but you know they are always there. Just like the stars we may be scattered, but we shine our light for one another and make each other’s lives brighter.”

I want my logo and theme to remind us that we are not alone. We are a sisterhood that works together and needs each of us and all of us to accomplish our mission and purposes. So shine your light as a Star of Alpha Delta Kappa.
