2026-2028 NC State President
Yvette was born and raised in Alabama. She moved to Georgia to teach high school chorus after graduating with a Bachelors in Music Education in choral and general music at the University of Montevallo. Yvette taught high school music for 10 years before working in school administration for 20 years. She earned her master's degree in school administration from Georgia Southern University and a six year / doctorate in school administration from Nova Southeastern University. After retiring, Yvette worked as a paralegal, trained substitute teachers, mentored beginning teachers, taught Chinese students English with VIPkid and was elected to the school board. After years of vacationing in Maggie Valley, Yvette and her husband Bucky, moved permanently to Waynesville in 2020. The Keels have a son, Allen, who works in the music industry in Nashville, TN. Yvette was initiated into Alpha Delta Kappa in 1986, and she has celebrated her 40th year in the organization this past March. Yvette is a Sapphire Sister. She served as the GA State President from 2014 to 2016, and is honored to be the NC State President for 2026-2028.
