Moderator: Brittany Hull, Johns Hopkins University
In an era of “continuous collisions,” both advanced writing instructors and their students face unprecedented risks when their coursework intersects with political backlash, institutional vulnerability, and coordinated attacks on public engagement. This open conversation addresses the critical question: How might we support writing instructors and advanced student writers who become targets for work that engages with contemporary political realities and social justice issues?
This generative dialogue begins with brief contextual case studies from four co-leaders, followed by extensive audience participation and collaborative problem-solving. The co-leaders will provide initial framing before opening the conversation to all participants for shared experiences, practical strategies, and collective brainstorming.
