Moderator: Carly Schnitzler, Johns Hopkins University
In our panel, the four of us will detail our innovative assignments in the Writing Studies Minor courses we teach: Writing & Medicine, Writing & Producing Podcasts, Writing About Happiness, Reading and Writing Blogs, Advanced Argumentative Writing, and Practicum in College Teaching. We will outline strategies instructors can use to support students’ discovery and communication of their ideas in a landscape saturated with non-human expression. Using Binghamton’s Writing Studies Minor as a model, this panel reflects on how The Writing Institute continues to implement innovative assignments to help students find agency and express their voices.
