Summer Drill Camp is designed to give prospective NS-1 Cadets an overview of many facets of the Navarre NJROTC program. During this camp they will have the opportunity to learn basic skills that they will use throughout their time in NJROTC with the Raider Battalion. This camp is a prerequisite for enrolling in the Naval Science-1 course unless the Cadet is transferring, with good standing, from another JROTC course. During this week-long camp, Cadets start their journey in the program and begin to make life-long friendships.
If you are a first year cadet (regardless of grade-level) and wish to enroll in NJROTC, you MUST attend NS-1 Summer Drill Camp - no exceptions. Without this important week, a student will be behind his or her peers by as much as 30 hours of instruction (equivalent of six weeks of school).
Currently, the schedule for this years NS1 camp, summer of 2025 is to be determined. Weekly checkups in the tabs "Unit Calendar" as well as "NS1 Camp" for dates and times is recommended.
Cadets can arrive each day (Mo/Tu/Th/Fr) at the NJROTC area, located at the western end of Navarre High School. We will introduce you to everything we do in the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) program, including participation in a community service project. On Wed please arrange to be dropped off at Sand Crab Pavilion, and picked up at NJROTC. Each day you should wear school appropriate clothing suitable for exercise. Tee-shirt, shorts, and running shoes are perfect attire. Eat a healthy and hearty breakfast before arriving and bring a healthy lunch each day, unless told otherwise (there will be pizza lunch served on Wed and Fri). A typical day will begin with the raising of our US flag and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, as well as:
Team Building Games
Platoon and Squad Drill
Academics
Orienteering
On Friday, August 2nd, the last day of camp, a graduation ceremony will be held at 1300 (1:00 PM) at the high school. The Cadets will perform various drill routines and receive awards they've earned during camp. This graduation is currently planned to be held in Cafeteria #1 (Cafeteria with a stage).
Don’t forget to get your physical examination properly documented on a school specific sports physical form.
You cannot participate without a complete and current FHSAA EL2 complete physical form!
