THE BORDER CRISIS AND THE DANGERS OF MASS MIGRATION
Immigration has been a highly debated issue in recent years, with the left increasingly pushing for more open borders and the right attempting to halt these efforts and secure the border, unfortunately often sacrificing the cultural values and true purpose of borders to avoid seeming “xenophobic” and politically unviable. Now, it seems the wide acceptance of mass immigration and the failure to pass strong border policy has culminated in the disaster we see today at the southern border under President Biden. The preservation of our culture, the safety and wellbeing of our citizens, and the security of our elections are all at stake, and if immigration continues to skyrocket with the disinterest of our leaders, those pillars of our country will certainly collapse.
The crisis at the U.S. border is undeniable, and it is clear that the rhetoric of President Biden and other powerful Democrats has caused or at least exacerbated the issue. Just over 100,000 people were apprehended at the border last month, 24,000 more than in February 2019. The number of unaccompanied children crossing the U.S.-Mexico border this month is on pace to surpass that of May 2019, the highest month that year in arrests of minors, according to CNN. Now migrant facilities are packed with people, including children, in conditions that seem very conducive to the spread of COVID-19.
Fox News has learned from a senior source with Customs and Border Protection that Border Patrol in the Rio Grande Valley Sector may begin releasing illegals without a notice to appear in court.
If you wonder whether increased illegal immigration and immigration in general are resulting from Biden’s presidency, look no further than the migrants coming and even the President of Mexico. Martha Raddatz, an ABC reporter, asked a South American illegal alien who crossed the border whether they "Would you have tried to do this when Donald Trump was president?" He replied “definitely not” and said that he “basically” came because Joe Biden was elected President. At a press conference, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said that “Expectations were created that with the Government of President Biden there would be a better treatment of migrants,” and that “this has caused Central American migrants, and also from our country, wanting to cross the border thinking that it is easier to do so.” Although Biden now claims to be tough on immigration and even attempts to blame the Trump Administration for the country, in a 2019 debate he showed his true colors, saying “We're a nation that says, 'You want to flee, and you're fleeing oppression, you should come.”
The media’s coverage of this situation versus similar policies under Trump, mostly created under Obama, has been extremely hypocritical."Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski said that Trump "will forever be remembered as the president who traumatized little children." A guest on CNN said that “increasingly, Donald Trump is turning this nation into Nazi Germany and turning these into concentration camps.” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez staged a photo crying in front of a border facility under the Trump administration. Now, these figures are mostly silent or blaming former President Trump for the crisis. CNN and other leftist news sources are now scrambling to cover for Biden, making dodging statements like “there is no denying that this is an incredibly complex humanitarian issue that is, of course, made even more difficult by the fact that we're dealing with this in the midst of a pandemic.” “Child abuse” has become a “complex humanitarian issue,” “kids in cages” has become “facilities for migrant children,” and claims of xenophobia and racism have completely disappeared.
This mass migration and weak policy has very real fiscal consequences for Americans. For greedy, large companies, jobs are often given to unskilled immigrants who will, especially if here illegally, work for much less than other citizens. Research reviewed by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office indicates that between 50% to 75% of unauthorized immigrants pay federal, state, and local taxes. Although these numbers are hard to confirm due to the fact that illegals can not be monitored as closely, that still leaves a great deal of people living in the country without paying their share of taxes. Estimates in 2016 estimated the number of illegal immigrants at 10.7 million, representing 3.3% of the total U.S. population. They also have a non-trivial impact on elections, tending to vote for Democrats to further ease immigration policy. An estimated 234,570 extra votes were cast by noncitizens in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, enough to deliver a win for President-elect Joe Biden, according to a report from Just Facts Daily.
It is clear that Democrats are attempting to import foreigners as a solidly blue voting block- and that many Republicans are too weak to stop them. Almost 50% of Republicans want to give illegals a path to citizenship, and almost 40% of people in general support increasing the number of refugees allowed in the country. Aside from voting, this increased immigration also serves the economic interests of large companies seeking cheap, unskilled labor. The inflow of drugs, terrorism, and human trafficking pose a great threat to our nation. The idea that America is a valueless “melting pot” or, the even more progressive idea, a “tossed salad” of various cultures is the antithesis of the founding of the nation. The mass import of foreign culture is leading to the erosion of traditional values, the degeneration of culture, and the devaluing of American citizens and workers. Illegal immigration must be stopped, illegal citizens who have violated our country’s law and sovereignty must be deported, and policy must reflect the preservation of our great values- before it’s too late.
