CAITLYN JENNER: A DANGEROUS CONCESSION
With growing success in the recall effort for California Governor Gavin Newsom, and the necessary 12% of voters’ signatures collected, new questions are arising about who will be the next Republican candidate to run against him in the coming triggered election. One possible candidate who is appearing frequently on news channels, Caitlyn, formerly known as Bruce, Jenner. This choice has caused much controversy, with conservatives divided on whether a transgender candidate would have a better chance to win in California and if the ideological and social consequences of the decision would be worth it. Leftists who once praised Caitlyn for his courage now turn on him , as well, questioning his quasi-conservative views, even on transgenderism.
As social conservatives, the Republican party, as well as politics as a whole, domestic and abroad, have experienced an increasingly rapid shift to the left. Biological gender and the roles fitting the two sexes are being denied and abolished in exchange for sexual openness, men are becoming increasingly effeminate as family values are replaced by promiscuity, and the right as a whole is beginning to confuse liberty for licentiousness. Understanding biology is now transphobic, calling someone by their real pronouns is violence, and being straight is discriminatory. Running Caitlyn Jenner and making a national conservative figure out of him will further shift the party right and erode the most basic of moral principles and objective truths. Even if he did have a chance at winning, which is very unlikely as Newsom won in 2018 with 62% of the vote, would the benefits of a weak Republican governor really outweigh the detrimental social impact?
If these so-called-conservatives are willing to concede the left’s radical transgender ideology and pretend that Caitlyn Jenner is a woman, what are the policies that Jenner actually will bring to California? Well, for one, Jenner called his endorsement of Trump in 2016 “wrong,” and went on to say he didn’t vote for him in 2020. Jenner also reversed his criticism of Hillary Clinton, posing for pictures with her with the captions “#learningfrommygirls” and “#willingtolisten.” He is, of course, extremely weak on LGBTQ issues, saying there is “fertile ground for change within the Republican Party on LGBTQ issues.” Jenner is not much more conservative on abortion, possibly the greatest human rights issue today. In his own memoir, Jenner admitted that he tried to convince his now ex-wife Kris Jenner to have an abortion. Jenner is also in favor of granting the 1.75 million illegal immigrants in California’s labor force citizenship. In an interview with CNN, Jenner said “"I am for legal immigration, okay.” He also propagated the idea that all claims of any voter irregularities or election integrity issues are just Trump’s “big lie.” Jenner is essentially only even remotely conservative on fiscal issues, saying he is “economically conservative” and wants a “thriving economy” and for the government to “get out of [his] face” with regulations.
The idea that Caitlyn even can win in California is quite a longshot, and the thought that the 4.8% LGBTQ demographic in the state will somehow win the election for him is absurd. He is, however, taking the race seriously, having Brad Parscale, adviser for President Trump, help with his campaign. In a recent livestream, an intoxicated Ryan Fournier, founder of Students for Trump, debated popular commentator Vince Dao about the issue. Fournier, on the side of Jenner, believed that he could win due to his appeal to the LGBTQ demographic, and called all who disagreed with him “peasants.” He has since apologized and has seemingly acknowledged the dangers of this concession to transgender ideology and shift left of the party. Another Republican candidate, John Cox, who ran for governor in 2018, is a much more conservative candidate. Unlike Jenner, he is actually conservative on vital issues like abortion and immigration, and is also a Christian. He has, however, never been a strong supporter of President Trump and is a former member of the Democratic Party.
Californians, don’t vote for Jenner. He may be better than Newsom, but making a national figure out of someone peddling radical left transgender lies and pretending that is “conservative” will run the party further into the ground. We must prop up truly socially conservative figures, and completely condemn weak, establishment politicians and social progressives. Caitlyn Jenner is no conservative, and he will almost certainly lose. This is a dangerous concession for the Republican party.
