PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: Founded by Raja Veerraj Judeo when he seized the fort of Naro from the Teli Rajas in 1344. Until the 18th century, the state was known as Unchahara (ancient Ucchakalp) from the name of its original capital. When the British became paramount after the treaty of Bassein of 1820, Nagod was held to be a tributary to Panna and was included in the sanad granted to that state in 1807. Raja RAGHVENDRA SINGH 1831/1874, born 1821, privately educated at Jabalpur, in the mutiny of 1857, Raja Raghvendra Singh behaved most loyally in assisting the British and was rewarded by the grant of eleven villages, which had belonged to the confiscated state of Bijairaghogarh, married Rani Sukhraj Kunwari Bisenaniji, daughter of Bisen Raja Sahab of Bhadri (Pratapgarh), she had no issue, married 2ndly, Rani Harinath Kunwari, daughter of Baghel Rajput Medini Singh of village Karsara within Regaon Jagir, and had issue. He died 22nd February 1874.
HH Raja JADVENDRA SINGH Judeo 1874/1922, born 30th December 1855, succeeded 12th June 1874 (#1), married 1stly, a Princess of Gaharwar Raj of Vijaipur, died in childbirth, married 2ndly, Rani Bhagwati Devi of Vijaipur, married 3rdly, Rani Padam Kunwari (sister of Babu Beni Prasad Jhinna), died sp., married 4thly, 1908, Rani Vatsraj Kunwari, sister of Baghel Thakur Lalai Singh of Bhajikhera, and had issue, three sons (one died young), and three daughters, as well as an adoptive son. He died 4th November 1922 in Varanasi and was cremated at Manikarnika Ghat.
(A) Rajkumar Maharaj Lal Saheb Bhargavendra Singh Judeo, Yuvaraj of Nagod 1904/1913, President of State Council (1932 to 4.2.1936); Prime Minister cum Dewan of Nagod State 1938/1942; born 1887 as Lal Saheb Baldeo Singh of Katkon Khurd (see above), officially adopted by HH Raja Jadvendra Singh prior to the birth of his own sons by a subsequent marriage; educated at Mayo College, Ajmer; he abdicated in favour of his younger brothers and was granted principality of Fort Unchahara; married, Lal Saheba Ranchod Kanwar, daughter of Baghel Maharao Raja Saheb Ram Singhji Bahadur of Kasauta (Shankargarh) and Bara Raj (Allahabad Distt, UP) in Rewah, and had issue, four sons and one daughter.(#2)
Rajkumari Lallan Sahiba Ambika Prasad [Rani Ambika Prasad of Jiliya], initially engaged to the prince Amargarh; but married (as his first wife) 1932, Maharajadhiraj Bijay Singhji Sahib, 12th Raja Saheb of Abhaypura (Jiliya), Tazim Naresh Panchmahal Maroth. She died around 1942 at Pune after prolonged treatment of Tuberculosis, having had issue, one son (died young), and two daughters.

HH Raja NARHARENDRA SINGH 1922/1926, born 1912, educated at Daly College, Indore, where he got mumps and underwent surgery under Ranfateh Singh (of Urdani) in Indore Hospital, due to which, on the night of 26/27th February 1926, he died unmarried at Gwalior House in Indore.
