PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: The ancestor of the family was Raja Bariar Shah, Risaldar, who was granted the fief of Ikauna around 1324. The taluqa suffered greatly under the extortion of the Nazim, Darshan Singh and still more during the administration of his son, Raghubar Dayal Singh, who obtained the contract for Gonda and Bahraich in 1846. • Raja KISHAN PRASAD SINGH, Raja of Gangwal, his property was reduced to a few villages with the remainder being held in direct management till 1816; afterwards he added a further 25 villages to his estate; he was granted the title of Raja by the Oudh Government; he is said to have laid a curse of childlessness upon his descendants for his murder of Raja Himmat Singh of Payagpur. He died sp.
