Raja Harpaldev, who was the eldest son, led the Makwana to Gujarat where he took service with his cousin Raja Karan Solanki, King of Gujarat. In 1090, the King rewarded him with a grant of the territory in north-eastern Saurashtra that later became known as Jhalawad, where he ruled under Solanki suzerainty.
