PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: A koli state, situated in the Sabar Kantha with 15,000 bighas under tillage. The family claim descent from Kumar Shri Vijaypal, second son of Raja Kesar Dev, Raja of Kerantigadh to 1089, and his second wife, Rani Sakti De. The Thakore Sahebs, ranking in the Fourth Class, are Makwana Kolis, claiming descent from Makwana Rajputs. Some generations back, Makwana Bhatti came to the neighbourhood of Dedhrota and married the daughter of a Koli chief. From him are descended the rulers of Ilol, Dedol, Khervada, Vaktapur, Dedhrota and Prempur. The date is uncertain, but it is probable that the settlement of these chiefs and those of Khadal and Punadra took place in the 14th century, when the Jhalas were driven out of Halar in Kathiawar by the Kathis. The seat of the Thakore is at Ilol, the chief town of the state. He is a tributary chief, paying the Gaekwad ruler, Rs 1863-3-1 p.a. as ghasdana and the Maharaja of Idar, Rs 428-5-1 as khichdi and Rs 16-12-2 as Ahmednagar salami hak.
