Thesis Statement
After 9/11, the United States' foreign policy response was debated by the United States Department of Homeland Security in hopes of combating another event like 9/11, Presiendt George W. BushMany made many decisions , in the effort to prevent a future terrorist attack on the United States. Unfortunately these actions culminated in two poorly planned wars against Iraq and Afghanistan. Instead of making the United States safer from future terrorist attacks, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, combined with the United States' response to the 9/11 attacks, led to an overall decrease in cooperation with America in the Middle East and the growing threat of further terrorist attacks.

The Iraq War was a protracted armed conflict from 2003 to 2011 that began with the invasion of Iraq by the United States–led coalition which overthrew the Iraqi government of Saddam Hussein.

The United States department of homeland security was announced on November 25th, 2002. It is part of a determined national effort to defend the United States from terrorist attacks.
