Contract Modification - 32,500 Letter from David Seidel -
Although my back of the envelope calculations were for $38,000, in fact I’m sending you $32,500 as a contract modification. This is the amount being put onto the sub-contract. Your overheads will have to come out of this so the bucks in your pocket will be closer to $29.9K if CSUN takes 8%.
Below is some language about how the money will be used. Our financial folks will be in touch with Stef Friesen, your CSUN financial person.
Could you please give an approximate breakdown of how CSUN will spend these funds? I’ve suggested some categories but you should add/delete as appropriate. Precision is not required but we want to show that there is at least top-level planning for the incoming funds.
This budget is to service pre-service educators primarily but they do not have to be the same educators as we had this summer in the PSTI. And we have capacity for additional programs’ students. Or to put it another way, if we already have our auditorium booked, let’s fill it!
Thanks,
—David
Suggested budgeting categories:
$40,000 from MUREP: Pre-Service Teacher (PST) Workshop Series.
$16,500 from SEAP: Pre-Service Teacher (PST) SMAP Pre-Launch Educator Conference.
Total $56,500 (gross).
The MUREP $40,000 will be spent to supplement two Educator Resource Center monthly workshops (September 27, 2014 and November 8, 2014) with pre-service teachers from the summer 2014 Pre-Service Teacher Institute (PSTI), plus additional California State University pre-service educators and faculty. These educators will have an enhanced day with additional subject matter and pedagogical content. There will be a third workshop day at CSUN on January 17, 2015 for these teachers to expand upon and reinforce the concepts from the other activities.
The SEAP $16,000 will be used on this same population for an all-day SMAP pre-launch educator conference at JPL on October 25, 2014. The CSUN and Cal State educators will have additional assignments related to their pre-service studies and preparation in order to earn their stipend.
