Using Problem-Based Learning Structures to Apply NGSS and CCSS in STEM Lessons
Candidate Learning Outcomes:
1. Demonstrate effective team work dispositions in selecting, developing and aligning a JPL-CSUN presentation into a STEM lesson plan (Use NASA 5E Framework in selection).
2. Participate in team analysis and application of PBL structures in order to promote student engagement in Dimension 1 of the Next Generation Science Standards:
Asking questions (for science) and defining problems (for engineering);
Developing and using models; Planning and carrying out investigations; Analyzing and interpreting data; Using mathematics and computational thinking; Constructing explanations (for science) and designing solutions (for engineering); Engaging in argument from evidence; Obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information
And identify which Dimension 2 (Cross Cutting Concepts that have Common Applications Across Fields) is addressed in your lesson design.

4. Anticipate how you might use the Google Apps demonstrated in the Institute to engage students in collecting, reporting and analyzing data; or utilizing data sets provided by NASA and other scientific sources.
5. Complete a PSTI follow-up assignment where you adapt the team lesson to your individual grade level (anticipated student teaching assignment).
