Basic Boating:

For new narrowboaters I recommend the Boater's handbook on the site of the Canal & River Trust. It contains comprehensive advice which will help you also with slightly challenging tasks like operating a lock. (This game and website is not related in any way to the Canal & River Trust.)

This game is too hard! I just want to do narrowboating!

Visit the page "Other" in the game options. Check "Gongoozlers Mode" and you can select all levels without showing any skill ;-)

Anyway: Some boats will only be selectable if you've collected some minimum Canal Karma.
