The Enact research project focuses on the enactivist understanding of individual and interactive cognitive processes. More specifically, linguistic, logical, phenomenological and ethical processes, which make up the project's four research nodes, coordinated by professors Nara Figueiredo, Frank Sautter, Róbson Reis and Marcos Fanton, respectively. The delimitation of the nodes considers the production of meaning and normativity as basic conditions of life, in line with the enactivist thesis, according to which living systems are fundamentally relational: their meaningful and evaluative experiences emerge from their dynamic interaction between organic and environmental processes.
The research involves 28 researchers from 10 universities. In addition to UFSM, the collaborating educational institutions include the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), the State University of Londrina (UEL), the Federal University of the Southern Frontier (UFFS) and the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). Internationally, the University of the Basque Country (UPV, Spain), the Franklin and Marshall College (F&M, United States) and the University of Wollongong (UoW, Australia) are partners.
