“Shoe? Is that a shoe? I thought it was a canoe…”
Shalina was examining her new boyfriend’s left running shoe. The right one was still in its box, fresh from the store.
“Ha ha. Very funny.”
She still hadn’t gotten used to how deep Shem’s voice was. She could swear it made her ribcage rattle. She inserted her arm up to the elbow into the shoe.
“I could fit like, ten of my shoes in here…”
Shem unpacked the other shoe and turned to her.
“You know what they say about guys with big feet though, right?”
“No?”
“Our shoes are bloody expensive, that’s what.”
