広島で生まれ育ち、18歳の時に進学を機に沖縄に移りました。小さな頃から海が好きで、主に無脊椎動物の生態に興味があります。

ダイビングサークルで潜りまくるうちにナマコと出会い、地元広島では一般的な食べ物であるナマコが沖縄では全くと言っていいほど食べられないこと、でも輸出目的に乱獲されていることなどを知り、ナマコ研究の道に入りました。

生まれ変わるならナマコになりたいので、ナマコの待遇改善に邁進しています。

I was born and raised in Hiroshima, and moved to Okinawa at the age of 18 to attend university. I have loved the ocean since I was a child, and I am particularly interested in the ecology of invertebrates. 

While diving extensively in my diving club, I encountered sea cucumbers. In my hometown of Hiroshima, sea cucumbers are a common food, but in Okinawa, they are hardly eaten at all. However, I learned that they are being overfished for export purposes, and this led me to the path of sea cucumber research. 

Currently, I am continuing my research in Dr. Akira Iguchi’s lab at AIST as a postdoctoral fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). 

If I could be reborn, I would want to be a sea cucumber, so I am working hard to improve the treatment of sea cucumbers.
