English as a Foreign Language (EFL) coursebooks play a central role in language classrooms; however, student perspectives on these materials are often overlooked in their development. This study explored undergraduate EFL students' attitudes towards coursebooks and materials creation. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including a questionnaire administered to 99 students majoring in engineering at a public university in Japan. The results indicate that students value textbooks for their structure, content, and support in developing language skills. Most students believe teachers or professional writers should create textbooks. These findings underscore the importance of considering student voices in materials development to enhance their learning experience.
