The Nagoya JALT Newsletter is a non-refereed newsletter, so all the papers will be accepted in most cases. However, depending on the topics and quality, the Editors might judge whether or not the manuscripts will be accepted.

The Nagoya JALT Journal Guideline

The following is based on the submission guideline for the Language Teacher (http://jalt-publications.org/tlt/submissions).

Articles relevant to language education in Japan. (A summary of research studies, research/teaching issues, perspectives and commentary on trends and technology use.)

Submission should

  • Be between 1000-1500 words (including references).

  • have tables, figures, appendices, etc. included in the main file in the appropriate places, and also attached as supplementary files.

  • be accompanied by a 50-word biographical background

  • Include the DOI for every reference that has a DOI. Preface the DOI with the appropriate HTML header (e.g., https://doi.org/).

  • follow APA 7th Edition Guidelines.


Students’ Opinions

Students’ Opinions are thoughtful essays on topics related to language learning and teaching in Japan. Submission need not be researched based, but proofreading will be suggested by expert language speakers in the case that the authors write papers in their foreign languages. Submissions should:

  • be of relevance to language educators in Japan.

  • be between 1,000 and 2,000 words in English, or between 2,000 and 3,000 characters in Japanese.

  • be accompanied by a 50-word biographical background.

  • Include the DOI for every reference that has a DOI. Preface the DOI with the appropriate HTML header (e.g., https://doi.org/).

  • follow APA the 7th edition Guidelines when the authors utilise references.

Teaching Tips: Short teaching tips or lesson ideas.

Submission should:

  • Be between 500-1000 words (including references).

  • be accompanied by a 50-word biographical background

  • Include the DOI for every reference that has a DOI. Preface the DOI with the appropriate HTML header (e.g., https://doi.org/).

  • follow APA 7th Edition Guidelines.

Book and Resource Reviews: Reviews of textbooks, professional development books, websites and other resources. Include a description, the authors’ critique and how this applies to teaching.

Submission should:

  • Be between 500-1000 words (including references).

  • have tables, figures, appendices, etc. included in the main file in the appropriate places, and also attached as supplementary files.

  • be accompanied by a 50-word biographical background

  • Include the DOI for every reference that has a DOI. Preface the DOI with the appropriate HTML header (e.g., https://doi.org/).

  • follow APA 7th Edition Guidelines.

Announcements from Nagoya JALT Members: Nagoya JALT Members can make some announcements. For example, recruitments for part/full-time lecturer positions, awards, upcoming events, and publications in peer-reviewed journals Submission should be up to 75 words.


Restrictions

Papers submitted to The NAGOYA JALT Newsletter must not have been previously published, nor should they be under consideration for publication elsewhere. If accepted, the editors reserve the right to edit all copy for length, style, and clarity without prior notification to authors.

Review Process

The Nagoya JALT Newsletter is a non-referred newsletter, but the Editors will judge whether or not the manuscripts will be accepted. Authors will be notified once your submission is received. The Editors reserves the right to modify any material selected for publication to fit the available space, or to improve on clarity and style. Authors will be consulted prior to publication if changes are significant. The Editors may ask the authors to revise their articles if substantial changes are required.
