Yoga

Yoga is an ancient, non-religious, experiential and holistic science of wellbeing. As per Yoga, human beings have five (interconnected) ‘Koshas” (sheaths or layers) viz.

Annamaya kosha is the physical sheath.

Pranamaya kosha: Pranamaya means composed of prana, the vital energy, the force that vitalizes and holds together the body and the mind. It pervades the whole of the being. One of the ways it manifests is the breath.

Manomaya kosha: Manomaya means composed of manas or mind.

Vijnanamaya kosha: Vijnanamaya means composed of intellect, the faculty which discriminates, learns and makes choices

Anandamaya kosha: Ananda means bliss. Being blissful is our essential nature at the core of our being.

Yoga is a system to nourish, heal, align and integrate the five koshas. Yoga consists of eight limbs viz. Yama (abstinences) Niyama (observances), Asana (postures), Pranayama (breathing), Pratyahara (withdrawal), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation) and Samadhi (absorption). The eight limbs form a sequence from the outer to the inner.
