JV Avadhanulu (JV for short)

 jv.wellth@gmail.com

In 1987, I was airlifted from my ship because of a cardiac crisis. I was diagnosed with four incurable diseases (ischemic heart disease, hypertension, diabetes and mitral valve prolapse). I was just 41 years old. The prognosis was that I may live only for seven more years. Recuperating my health and rebuilding my life was a transformational experience that kindled my interest in the science and art of wellbeing. I quit my professional career in 2007 to explore alternate modes of living in Auroville. I found the purpose of my life in sharing what helped me to bounce back and thrive. I am now 76 and enjoy excellent health and wellbeing.

I had a successful professional career of over 37 years that spanned various roles in the Indian Navy, high tech industry and academia.  I held top R&D Management positions such as the Director of R&D (D-Link India), Joint Chief Program Executive, CRISP (IISc), Vice President (Cirrus Logic India), GM R&D (BPL Telecom) and led teams that developed successful as well as award-winning technology products.  Prior to my career in the industry, I served in the Indian Navy for 21 years. I received the Visisht Seva Medal from the President of India for distinguished service and Jain Memorial Gold Medal from the Chief of Naval Staff for innovative design. My contribution to the indigenous warship building program is covered in History of the Indian Navy.

I conceived and designed the ICITI project that resulted in the city-wide fiber optic network in Auroville. This project created a new window for Auroville "to belong to the whole of Humanity".

I was a visiting faculty at IIM Indore and ITM University in the area of wellbeing. I conceived, designed and conducted Himalaya Outbound Program (HOP) at Nainital for IIMI. HOP was awarded AMBA certificate of commendation under the Innovation category in 2019. I also facilitated programs at IIMB, IMT (Nagpur), IITM, IISc, IIITB and a number of other educational institutions, corporates and organizations in India and abroad. More than ten thousand people from more than forty nationalities attended my programs in Asia, Europe and USA.  I bring my life-experiences in military, academia, Indian companies, multi-nationals and Auroville to the programs facilitated by me.

I was a seminar leader for Landmark Education Corporation during 1999- 2003 and led some of the best ever seminars in the world.

I qualified in the certificate programs of University of Pennsylvania "Foundations of Positive Psychology Specialization" course, Yale University "Science of wellbeing" course and Harvard Medical School "Cognitive Fitness " course. I am a member of the International Positive Psychology Association.

I hold a master's degree in technology from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. I was a National Merit Scholarship holder.

I am happily married since 1976. We live in Nashik, Maharashtra since 2017. We are a carbon negative household and organically grow most of the vegetables and fruits we eat. We have two beautiful daughters. They both live in USA. Our sons-in-law fill the role of sons in our lives. The most recent joys in our lives are the two adorable grandchildren, Nina and Aditya.
