Production took longer time thanks to *Quests needed to be solved in order for its creation:

1) Choose Marseilles deck to restore? (there is plenty in this style & it was hard task bc I’m Libra & RWS is my 1st & fav & i was never particulary *drawn to pip decks (aka Not illustrated Minor Arcana!)

This changed moment I’ve seen certain card character with extra pair of eyes on its knees & belly!

as well as Chariot and few more cards all in this deck share very expressive drawings of eyes I was drawn to  immediately feeling *This is IT perfect for my vintage fav! Also it provides some amazing insight into card design evolution & how meaning changed aka *modernized later compared to RWS!

Marseille Tarot is term for one of most important and foundational style of Tarot in the world.

Originally made from woodcut blocks, between the 17th and 18th century, mostly in the regions of Paris, Lyon, Avignon, and Marseille & popularized thanks to successful card publishers in Europe, at the time.

Among earliest extant Marseille-type decks, three designs stand out as foundation of this style:

Noblet from Paris circa 1650, and the Conver from Marseille circa 1760,

& this one is my fav Dodal estimated to be published from Lyon circa 1701-1706,

2) Next was to determine *level of restoration that will work best with Vintage effect theme i had in mind & for that purpose redrawing whole deck art with perfect crisp lines would make it completely new version & therefore not *vintage style I prefer! After some tinkering I’ve set on my personal level of *good measure between *Vintage shabby but Not too shabby therefore happy to present you

Original Jean Dodal Tarot Art now redesigned with beautiful aged paper background and

minimal restoration in order to preserve spirit of *old times & that includes print imperfections as well

(i did my best to keep these as is as much as possible & only *fix what had to be addressed properly!;)

Dodal Vintage Tarot is different from all other Marseilles style decks as it's not trying to *restore original card illustration with *crisp & clean images, instead card images are purposely aged & may appear bit blurry in order to ask you to make an effort to truly see & THINK about what elements are hiding in each card instead of taking it for granted!?

list of changes how it differs from classic Jean Dodal Tarot it’s based on:

*Original hi-res card scans (front & back) are merged with old paper texture with ornamental swirly corners for vintage effect

*All text & borders are removed from All cards front and back,

*Roman Numbers are present only on few Minor Arcana cards as i find it fitting part of art

*78 tarot cards are printed pocket bridge size 2.25x3.5in/6x9cm

*specialty playing card core card stock with linen texture!

*12 Extra cards included are 12 zodiac woodcut engravings style i think fit perfect!;)

*Original Back with vintage aged paper effect!

*Original tuck box design

I Hope you’ll like this final design as much as I do it quickly become my fav Ever!^^
