VERBELE DUALE

(VERBS WITH DUAL MEANING)

Verbele duale sau verbele cu dublu înțeles sunt verbe care își schimbă înțelesul în funcție de aspectul la care sunt folosite (simplu sau continuu). Dintre acestea, le amintim pe:

HAVE

- I have a nice house. (posesia) – Simple

- We are having fun. (în expresii) – Continuous

EXPRESII:

· to have breakfast/lunch/dinner

· to have fun/ a good time

· to have a bath/a shower

· to have difficulty/ a hard time

BE

- They are in the kitchen (now or every morning).- Simple

- He is usually a polite boy; I do not know why he is being so rude now. - Continuous

(aici are scopul de a sublinia un comportament anormal, ieșit din comun)

THINK

- I think you are right. (a crede) - Simple

- I am thinking of moving in town. (a se gândi la, a lua în considerare)- Continuous

APPEAR

- He appears to be tired. (a părea)- Simple

- He is appearing in a new movie. (a apărea)- Continuous

FIT

- This dress fits you. (a se potrivi ca mărime)- Simple

- He is fitting the new sink into the kitchen, ( a instala, a fixa, a monta) - Continuous

ENJOY

- I enjoy listening to music. ( în general)- Simple

- I am really enjoying this party. (ocazie specială) - Continuous
