I am in my second year at CCBC and discovered my passion for computer networking! Currently I am an IT major working on finishing my associates degree, with plans to transfer to a 4 year IT program with a concentration in Networking.
I have also been Cisco certified since August, obtaining my CCNA through great determination and a rigorous study plan. I don't study nearly as much as I did whilst on my journey to obtain my certification, but I still do daily reviews of various networking topics to keep them fresh in my head.
My hobbies include playing League of Legends with my friends, lifting weights at my home gym, studying, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and just general nerd things!
My favorite band is Arcade Fire but I've not been to one of their concerts due to tinnitus issues, even with earplugs I would literally go deaf!
I live in Dundalk, MD, with my two cats: Teddy and Rosie.
My plans for going forward are to further obtain the next level certification, the CCNP, while I finish school and hopefully kick-start my career through internships or more official positions, and eventually become a Network Engineer. I hope to also master Python, as learning how to program effectively is a requirement for most modern Network Engineers! There are applications that can provide automation, however being able to write your own scripts in tandem allows for next level efficiency and separates the average from the great.
As for personal goals, I have a few:
I hope to eventually reach the 1000lb club for lifting weights i.e. reaching a cumulative total of 1000lbs between your Squat, Deadlift, and Benchpress.
I want to take my 5k time to below 20 minutes.
Reaching the Master tier on the ranked ladder for League of Legends.
Throughout the semester I had to challenge myself in learning how to use software that I was unfamiliar with, as well as using problem solving skills to find solutions to all of the projects that I worked on. This class had a lot of work required for it, but I am glad that I was able to accomplish the tasks that were set out for me. I know I started to "peter-out" towards the end of the semester, and had to deal with some things IRL but honestly who doesn't right? Not looking to excuse myself though. I did have a lot of fun in this class working on these projects and deep diving into these technologies that are honestly very helpful to know. I had always found a passing interest in things like excel, but I never really had the right direction or use for it, and I feel proud that I know enough to actually use the application!
Overall, I am glad I took this class and I have taken away a lot of knowledge that I know will be helpful for me in the future!
