Resources for watching and discussing President Oaks BYU Devotional address in all Seminary and Institute Classes
IMPORTANT: We have been directed to take pictures of our experiences with our class of studying President Oaks message and send them to Brother Howard.
One Idea on how to study the talk as a class from Ed Hegemann:
We had 22 young people watch President Dallin H. Oaks’ address. They viewed short segments of his message, I asked a few focusing questions and then they shared their thoughts and impressions with the person sitting across from them. We called it “Speed Faithing.” After each segment, one side rotated so they could discuss the next portion with someone new.
They were deeply touched as they felt the love of Jesus Christ and His prophet, President Oaks. Many expressed gratitude for how direct and clear he was. Several shared that they felt the mantle President Oaks spoke of resting upon him. They received a witness that he is God’s prophet on the earth today.
We have created a Google document to share with the young adults. This document will serve as a shared space where, in the coming weeks, they can record what they are doing to:
Strengthen their faith
Increase their humility
Seek help from others
Be patient
Moments like this remind us that the Lord is guiding His Church through living prophets. It is a privilege to walk alongside these young people as they seek to deepen their faith and follow Jesus Christ.
