Chief Warrant Officer Lawson
CWO3 Edward Lawson was born Jan 5 1968, in Phoenix, AZ. Raised in southern CA he graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1986. In Jul of 1988 he enlisted in the United States Navy and attended boot camp in San Diego California, where he was meritoriously advanced to SA, before graduating from Quartermaster "A" school in Orlando that same year.
On Jan 1 1989 QMSA Lawson reported to his first command the USS STERETT (CG-31) stationed in Subic Bay Philippines. In May of 1991 QM2 Lawson navigated the USS STERETT out of the Philippines for the last time headed for a new homeport in San Diego, CA..
In Feb 1992 he transferred to the USS HALEAKALA (AE-25) stationed in Apra Harbor Guam. QM2 assumed duties as the assistant leading petty officer in the Navigation Department. Following a successful tour onboard QM2 remained in Guam and transferred to Security Detachment COMNAVMARIANS. After 5 years in Guam he reported to Puget Sound Naval Brig where he advanced to QM1.
In May of 2000 QM1 Lawson accepted orders as the Leading Petty Officer in Navigation onboard the USS RUEBEN JAMES (FFG-57). While onboard, he was awarded the Arliegh Burke Award, qualified as Officer of the Deck (Underway) and achieved the rank of Quartermaster Chief Petty Officer.
QMC Lawson transferred in Sep of 2003 to the USS STENNIS (CVN-74) where he assumed the duties of the leading Chief in Training, before taking over the Navigation Department, while on board QMC also assisted the USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) when they lost the QMCM during a WESTPAC deployment. Prior to departing USS STENNIS, QMC Lawson was advanced to the rank of Quartermaster Senior Chief.
In Nov 2006 QMCS Lawson attend the USAF Senior Enlisted Academy. After graduating in Feb of 2007 QMCS assumed his new duties in Great Lake MI, as a Recruit Division Commander.
In May of 2007 QMCS was informed he had been selected for the Warrant Officer program and in Jun of 2007 he was Commissioned to Chief Warrant Officer 2 and sent to Stuttgart Germany as the Operation Officer for Naval Special Warfare Unit TWO.
In Apr 2010 CWO2 Lawson departed Germany and was transferred to Naval Information Operations Command, located on Coronado Island in San Diego. During his time with NIOC he completed one deployment onboard the USS BOXER (LHD-4) and was promoted to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3.
In Aug 2012 CWO3 Lawson reported onboard the USS HALSEY (DDG-97) stationed out of 32nd Street San Diego Ca. He assumed the duties as the Combat Information Centers Officer (CICO) and Ballistic Missiles Officer (BMO). While onboard he assisted with a hull swap and the crew took over the USS RUSSELL (DDG-59).
In April 2015 CWO3 Edward Lawson, following nearly 27 years of Naval Services, retired onboard the USS MIDWAY (CV-41)
Jan 25 2016, CWO3 Lawson began teaching Military Science as a NJROTC instructor at Everett Alvarez High School in Salinas California.
In July 2020 CWO3 Lawson accepted his next assignment at Moon Valley High School as the Senior Naval Science Instructor.
