Naval Science Instructor
I have dedicated my career to education, military service, and developing the next generation of leaders. Since February 2015, I have served as a Naval Science Instructor at Colton High School, Cleveland Junior Naval Academy, Riverview Gardens High School, and currently Moon Valley High School where I have instructed, mentored, and counseled many cadets in the inner cities of San Bernardino County, Saint Louis City, and Phoenix Arizona. Working in these challenging urban environments has shown me firsthand the transformative power of discipline, mentorship, and opportunity.
In my current role, I plan and execute military drill instruction and extracurricular activities that inspire cadets to excel. Through drill competitions, field trips, Basic Leadership Training, and Sailing Academy programs, I provide experiences that broaden their horizons beyond their communities. I lead Color Guard, Armed, and Unarmed teams in local, regional and national competitions, and I take pride in watching my cadets compete and succeed on stages they never imagined. Through NJROTC curriculum, I mentor cadets in Naval Science while instilling the core values of Citizenship, Leadership, and Responsibility—values I believe will shape them into responsible adults and engaged community members. My cadets' achievements reflect my commitment to their growth. Currently, at Moon Valley High School, we have received the Unit Achievement Award in for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years. A testament to my dedication and my cadets hard work. I also manage all government equipment inventory, cadet records, and annual operating budgets, ensuring our program runs smoothly and every cadet has the resources they need.
Before transitioning to education, I served as Chief Navy Counselor in the United States Navy from March 1993 to March 2013—over 20 years of leadership and management. In this role, I organized career development programs across three major commands, each with 300 to 600 personnel, helping service members envision their futures and chart their paths forward. All three commands I served received the Retention Excellence Award, a reflection of my commitment to supporting those under my guidance. I developed indoctrination programs that helped new personnel transition smoothly to their commands, coordinated educational seminars that increased advancement exam performance by 20 percent above Navy averages, and recruited individuals into naval service. I advised commands on career information programs and assisted service members and their families in understanding career opportunities, benefits, and transition services.
I hold a B.S. in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College of New York (2001), a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Phoenix (2015), and Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Advanced Certification (2017). I also have my teaching credentials for the states of California, Missouri, and Arizona.
