For this project, we explored different kinds of cybersecurity examples present in the news and the issues facing these topics. We also got the opportunity to take Cybersecurity training and earn a certificate.
Throughout this project, I learned about the various threats and risks facing computer and cell phone users in their everyday use. There are many ways to protect our important digital information and further prevent these issues from continuing, such as treating all incoming data with caution.
This article discusses a zero-click malware campaign on WhatsApp, which had targeted about 90 journalists and activists. Spyware is a form of malicious malware that enter a user's computer and gather data, while also sending it to third parties like in this incident the Israeli company, Paragon Solutions. Large Messaging companies like WhatsApp should start being more security focused with strong encryption to prevent their users from falling victim to these attacks. This incident falls on users for being less cautious to unknown group chats spreading malicious PDFs.

This article shares a hacking incident where attackers exploited an account from a third-party service provider to access Grubhub's systems, which exposed contact, payment, and password information of many drivers & customers. Companies using third-party vendors should audit for security compliance & stricter security measures to ensure that these vendors are safe to work with. As users should also look for strong, unique passwords and enable any offer to make our account safer, such as two-factor verification.
