🌽Before joining us, please read the following carefully.
MUSUBI is a learning group supported by guardians. Therefore, we operate with the following principles:
1. Group Learning Environment for Children:
- Teachers take the lead in creating curriculum, activities, and materials following the needs and wishes of each class.
- Guardians support children's learning activities at home.
- Additionally, the guardians should play a role of supporting other guardians and/or children of our group, particularly, when support at home is difficult otherwise.
2. Supporting Environment for Guardians:
- The primary purpose is to provide rich learning opportunities through Japanese language education to children. Therefore, please understand that it is an activity for guardians to engage with your child(ren) as much as possible. We are keenly aware of the diversity of children's situations, including but not limited to their nationality, language proficiency, family structure, motivation, and economic conditions. MUSUBI seeks to understand every child's situation so that we can help achieve their goals. To that end, please educate us about your situation.
3. Transitioning from MUSUBI's Japanese Activities to Learning in Society:
- Through activities with other students who share similar backgrounds, we aim to deepen bonds with students from around the world while learning Japanese language and having fun. At the same time, we aim to cultivate a foundation for children to venture into society.
4. Learning Activities:
- We mainly use textbooks and teaching materials distributed by the Ministry of Education for use in public schools in Japan, along with culture, sports, science, and technology learning. The purpose, abilities, and interests of each study class vary. So we use textbooks as shared materials, but the details and goals of the activities are mainly discussed and progressed within each class by our team (running) members.
- It is said that achieving the ability to read and write (literacy) will allow a child's target language to remain longer. Therefore, we generally assign homework including reading and writing. Also, we ask students to do homework with the purpose of not only improving the child's Japanese language ability, but also to create opportunities for connection through Japanese with guardians.
- In addition to the above, we also hold annual events and collaborative activities with other Keishougo groups of other regions to strengthen bonds both in-person and online.
We hope it will be a fun experience for both guardians and children.
