Although it was a tumultuous season for the men and women of Roosevelt XC, both teams did quite well in the post-season. The Women finished 2nd in league behind Santiago HS and just in front of King HS, and qualified for CIF. Seniors Abigale Rippe, Mia Rocha-Betancourt and Alyssa Cauble led the team to a Runner-Up finish, as up and coming runners Joelle Perales and Hannah Wrathall exceeded expectations and got it done at League Finals and CIF.
The Men's team battled criticism and minor injuries, but exceeded EVERYONE'S expectations. After scoring a league record, 16 points at the first league meet, the season was off to a great start. Through the ups and downs, the core members of the groups sacrificed a ton to accomplish what they did. Back to Back BIG VIII League Champ Michael Sahagun led the way as sophomore Andres Chavez and Senior Raul Chavez finished 1-2-3 in league. Heading into CIF Finals, the Men outperformed the rankings to almost finish in 2nd place, behind a perennial powerhouse distance program in Crescenta Valley High School. After finishing in 3rd place in CIF-SS D-1, (Raul Chavez 3rd, Michael Sahagun 12th individually) the Mustangs finished 7th in the D-1 State Meet and 11th overall in the entire state of California.
