Competition & Funding

The greatest competition for this enterprise is also its original inspiration. In 2021, a City Councillor from Burnaby, BC began the project “Harmony for All”. The goal of this project was similar to “Music Without Borders”, albeit on a smaller scale. The goal of Harmony for All was small in that they were simply hoping to gain enough momentum and capital to teach a few under privileged students by supplying them with donated used instruments. While not necessarily wanting to “compete” with this organization, I would rather want to find a way to work concurrently with them, to continue to find ways to deliver music instruction to any student who wishes to learn.

Obviously, for an enterprise such as this, it will require immense resources to get off the ground. The hope is that through contacts, we could obtain sponsorship from companies such as Tom Lee and Long & McQuade. This helps those companies put their names out there, and with the increased interest in music amongst younger people, will also increase their revenue. We have also begun a partnership with Vancity Credit Union to help us gain more capitol and will hopefully allow us to grow and expand our enterprise so that we may expand and reach students living outside of the Tri Cities area of Metro Vancouver.

Also, for a platform which is primarily meant for online use, there is much opportunity for growth in terms of the fine arts being taught online. The graph below displays the growth in terms of fine arts courses.

In short, this is an enterprise that is being headed by teachers who understand the needs and the desires of students. Our goal here is to connect with students like no other platform before it, especially with the goal of creating art like what we are trying to do. The future of music instruction here! It begins with Music Without Borders!
